Best way to kill alpha carno
Hi there.

I spotted an alpha carno near my base at the canyon around east zone 1 spawn. I think it is better to lure the alpha inside the canyon and kill it there than waiting it shows up at my home. So what is the best way to do it ?

We are a 3 man tribes on a private server up only when we play. So far I am the higher level (35) and so we have the first tier of firearm. We have a couple of carno (without saddle oviously) some dilo, a ptera etc...

I think the best way is to shoot him with the longneck rifle from the ridge of the canyon but I am not sure it is the best choice. Moreover, how much ammo should I plan to bring. It should. Be around lvl 10.

use a high-lvl ptera if you got. i use a saber too cause our ptera got shot by turrets.
if you can lure it to a cliff and shoot from above

Unless you guys are willing to risk losing your tames and gear, I would just lure it off. I lost a pack of 3 Raptors, 2 Trikes, and a few Dilos to an Alpha Raptor at around half the level of my tames.

An Alpha Carno at level 1 has 6400 health, according to ark.gamepedia; so you're going to have to fill it full of lead if you plan on killing it with the rifle.

I used a pack of about 20 dimorphodons to take down an alpha rex. Lost most of them but I never landed a single hit. The dimos took it down all on their own.

Don't underestimate the usefulness of a dimo flock.

use flyers like argy or quetzal if u hav but beware dont use a ptera the carno will kill it quick even if its a decent level like 60 or so.....

You can't. You wouldn't be able to take it out without a very decently levelled dino, which I doubt you have at level 35. Especially since you don't even have a saddle for your carno. Just don't go near it.

step 1 pick up dodo
step 2 go near alpha with dodo
step 3 make sure alohas folowing bait(dodo)
step 4 lead the alpha to ocean using dodo as bait
this works for me

What is usualy a good idea is get it in a spot where 2 ppl are opposed of eachother on elevated spots (for example a canyon with the dino in the middle and a person on each side uptop or 2 elevated metal ! poles with a platform and a ladder).
So when it agroes 1 person (and get's out of view for that one) the other can shoot it in the back.
Reapeat untill dead. (bring lots of ammo).
Weapon choice matters less in that case, aslong as you have the range to reach it.

Hence I started with natural elevation as example. Allso Stone can work if you surround the base with several spike walls.
I think purple drops (lev 35 and up) can have metal pilars as a reward too btw.
edit : if all else fails, you could allways go the route of carried ppl under ptera's, be sure to have an elevated spot nearby to land and replenish stamina and ammo =)

However, we have a canyon we can use. I didn't imagine we could go head to head to the alpha. But around how much ammo do I need to bring ? 100 ? 500 ? 1000 ?

Like I said, level 1 has 6400 health. That's about 33 rounds 6400/196. Not sure what kind of health scaling they have, so for a level 10; I would probably wouldn't leave the house without enough to cover 10k health. 10k/196=52 rounds.

Sounds kind of light to me, so if you've got more; then might as well load for bear.
