if you put it in a carnivore though make sure you have regular raw meat for it to eat.
also If you get a platform saddle for something a mobile preserving bin or generator/fridge would more than do the trick.
If you can't get the meat to the base (fast enough), bring the base to the meat.
Also, timing is key.
IG can cook 12 at time. So, only take 12 at a time off our your dino; use T or double click(drag and drop wastes time).
Also, only place 1 can of gas and then turn it on.
Once the first 12 are on, I get the next 12, and put on the grill; if you have no other meat in your inventory, use the Transfer all button.
I then wait for the first 12 to finish cooking, take the 12 cooked prime off, turn back to my bird, get the next 12, turn to the IG, Transfer All, wait for the previous 12 to finish cooking, take those...rinse and repeat.
If you get a good rythm down, you can cook a lot of prime very quickly, with little waste.
Once the prime gets below 18 seconds when not on the bird/animal, chances are it will spoil before it cooks. So, once I feel I am getting close to the end of the prime spoil, you can sometimes get a little more cooked by going to the end of the animals inventory, if you happened to kill more than one prime giving animal.
On our server, we keep the IG outside; if it is not save to do so on your server, just enclose it with a door for access.
You want to prevent as much running around/time wasting as possible.
Or put a genny on it with a fridge.
this has a fridge, genny and weapons on it and i use it to transport my dinos to the hunting ground.

I also use similar for taming. If I kill something that is a source of prime, but not ready to use it yet, I will leave it, or I will only take one attack worth of prime and come back to it before the corpse expires.
