How have you dealt with a large swarm of Onyc?

If you are fighting Onycs, you normally are in a cave, so diving into water would be a classic darwin award.

Use a spear, constantly hit while walking backwarts, thats how you kill most of the creatures in ark. If you want to have it more complicated, try circling them to avoid all attacks (because the targeting AI dont even understand basic ballistics)

But since when is it important to go into caves?

Wasn't in a cave. Was 3 outside then as I was trying to back up while stabbing more and more were popping up from the grass. Maybe they were glitching through from a cave underneath the grass?

A lot of them.

Are you playing single player? Because if you do, thats a known issue. They simply spawn on top of the cave instead of in it. (at least what I heard)

Sure, if they are outside the cave and have room to maneuver you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥^^

As far as I can tell you:
- Shooting them with a shotgun is an ammo waste
- shooting them with a simple pistol + scope doesnt harm them enough

I think dancing around them with a pike is the best thing you can do.

When they come to the surface tomorrow, I will take my 10 dimos with 1k HP 1k dmg :P

In in the process of lvling my "King Spikey" atm, its a max lvl trike (since im using a mod it started at 150 and is now 264) it rocks at taking down anoying flyers. Depending on how much anoying flyers there are with Fear Evolved id recommend anyone to stick a couple of AOE (potentially knock back) dinos in there army.

Not looking at the event and taking into consideration these bat are only in caves normaly (glitches aside) id suggest spears\pikes and medical brew (or something simular). Backing up into a wall (or cliff rock if they glitch out of caves) to ensure you rear is protected.

I use the same tactic that I do with raptors, back up against a large rock, cliff, or wall. Then just start hacking with a melee weapon. They are pretty weak and die pretty easily if you are wearing armor.

Dimos are the best for it. Especially because they fit all nice and cute like on your shoulder so you don't need to worry about the damn things not following you either!

most caves don't have water. some even have lava. you see more than 4 comin' at you get ready to clone!
