Elevator Track Rotation
So my walls are built by snapping to my towers - my towers snapped to my other walls - my other walls snapped to my bird tower - bird tower snapped to my pool - and pool snapped to my first house that I built 3-4 months ago..

Apparently you can only build Elevator Tracks based on the "direction you were facing" while placing a foundation / pillar you placed. The elevator I build now will snap to the humongous buildings I will build up the hill in the future. So if I cant snap it to my current buildings, even a 2 degrees slip on the angle will make the whole project off centered and will drive me crazy (yes I have OCD lol)

And now my friend is mocking me: "why didn't you think of these times and placed your very first foundation based on this 3-4 months ago from now?"

Well he is pretty right I guess.. Because it is too hard to add rotations to an End game Tech that costs insanely large number of high value resources. Even 1,5 months after its release.

Oh btw both Large Elevator and it's tracks give 1 Xp when crafted. Trolling is strong in the Devs it seems :)

Why don't you just align it perfectly?
OCD is very helpful there.

In reality, though, most people who claim to have OCD rarely have more than OCPD - if that.

Yeah managed to do it, I am guessing that I did it perfectly aligned but we will see when the upper building comes along :)

But still a quick fix for the issue would have been much more helpful + while doing so also fixing their crafting xp's as well.

Actually most just tend to be a bit anal or semi perfectionists, OCD is more of ticks and if they don't do them they tend to have mental breakdowns.
I've known a few in my time, they have issues functioning normally.

But more on topic a good number of things could stand to have the rotation option added to them.

Rotating parts are impossible to align correctly.

I recently fixed 2 lifts that a tribe member had installed. There was like a half meter gap with one of them and the other was a medium where a large platform would have fit JUST fine - if snugly.

Basically he ALLOWED the first elevaor track to snap to SOMETHING which is the one thing you cannot do. That is always wrong with elevators.
At least for medium and large ones. Havent tried small.

Please fix this devs! I don't want to rebuild the whole base, just because the foundation faces to the wrong direction.
Please let us rotate the elevator tracks with E!
Thanks in advance.

Not just those but to almost every structure block that we can place should have "E" rotations, already this far into the EA and it is a building game as much as it is a Dino game.. There can't be excuses to not have proper rotations while placing structures after 6-7 months into the EA, it is supposed to be the very foundations of the building system.

You can snap a medium elevator sideways on a foundation to make it line up. Only issue I have is I have to manually stop it when going up as it will raise itself about a meter above the top floor.

You can snap Elevator's to foundations that is not the issue..
The issue is that you can snap it only to a single rotation based on which way you were facing while placing the foundation itself (rather than rotating the Elevator Track based on where you are facing while placing it)

I solved this problem, if anyone is interested. It's kinda Janky.

Let's assume the base situation is "I have this pillar down and the track is not facing the right way". From the pillar, you can place a roof, a wall, and then a roof on that wall that faces a different direction. Place a roof out, and then another to the side (It'll look like an L) and then drop your pillar down from there. The pillar should be facing a different direction, hopefully the one you want, but will still be square with everything else, and you can snap new pillars off of that one until you're in the right place. I used this technique to reposition a bridge I had designed to come out of the water.

hope this makes sense, I suppose I could post a video or something? I haven't done it before.

Actually that was well explained, bit janky as you said but it does help. Would never have thought of that myself, thank you.

4 years later, still impossible to rotate elevator tracks? ok. :steamsad:
