Also the layout is pretty dumb, build up with pillars, then ceillings, on top of that your house, thus no dino attacking your quetz will have a reason to attack your house.
Additionally i think the concept of a high dmg quetz with a living house is dumb too.
Tame a 2nd one and level health and weight and use that as living house quetzal. Keep the other one with fridges and a grill to farm meat fast and efficient.
I am just trying to figure out how to protect the fridge and other stuff that will go inside. Thanks for the replies!
Anyone care to share screenshots of theirs?
Ive had the same problem with chests ect being destroyed during fights.
What ive done now is just put all stuff on the quetz itself. (it takes the same weight on the bird as if you would use chests).
only thing i loose regulary is my bed :)
i didnt say that a quetz house dumb, its totally okay, but please... dont go hunting with a house lol...
keep the platform on the current one but build something hunting dedicated on its back and make it on top of at least 3 pillars high... like this:
- = CEILING
O = Your stuff (fridges, grill, gen, whatever)
The physics of this game are fkd up totally, and they will be until release, so dont try to protect your stuff, just keep it away from trouble.
And this (now its metal)

Don't fly down to the dino you're attacking and the platform base is relatively safe. =)
Stone is good enough for most dinos... except alphas.
What i like about my current design is that in the back i have a hatch which i can go down to the bottom and under the saddle platform and there, standing on ceilings, i can have very easy and quick access to the bird. I am thinking, if i can have it so the fridge does not take damage, i want to keep it under the saddle so i could access and move prime very quickly. Grill would be down there also. And a door with a ramp would be nice too.
Top would be left for fabricator (if i can fit it in the 2x4 or 2x3 space), smitty, morter and pestle!!!! (very important, this is what i want to keep alive the most while battling because the quetz has endless spoiled meat) and maybe a forge. Below would be preserving bins, grill and fridge.
Just gotta have it so brontos and other dinos will not destroy the interior items.
btw i'm on private server, 3x taming and 3x resource gathering
top part is 2 wide and 4 deep (2 wide like the platform width)
hatch are goes down 3 walls
bottom area is 1 - 2 walls high, 2x3 possibly.
edit: Just remembered that i might have to ditch the bottom idea, a carried agro dino could be inside my base if i do that. I"ll have to check it out
All this time I've been setting up a 3x3 by trying to place one of the corner pillars square first. So many pillars wasted and so many frustrating mouse tosses and I never though to just stick one in the center first and use preview to check alignment. I suppose that disqualifies me from the master of the obvious award.
