[ADMIN] Find player ID # of someone while they are offline?
As an ark server admin, is there any way to find the player ID # or steam ID # of someone's character while they are offline on our server?

We have a griefer that I would like to ban but neither me or my other admin can seem to see him online when we are on to ban them.

Any ideas out there from other ark admins?

seal him in a box with windows for other servers users to tranq him? he'll get mad enough to talk in global where one of your players can screenshot his steam name.

Griefing, however unfun for the victim, is a fundamental part of every multiplayer game like this one.

You should try spending time on teaching the children on your server how to better defend against the evils of mmos.

How wrong can some 1 be, You may as well say its ok to walk to the shops and knock the crap out of the person infront of you just beacuse they got there 1st.

Sorry but, no. Griefers are -NOT- a part of clean mmo's. We run a clean server and everyone here behaves and shares resources and dinos and we all get along. I run a zero-tollerance policy on bullschittery.

That has nothing to do with my question however. I am seeking information about how ark server works and how to admin properly... can anyone offer anything actually helpful?

Why would you want to destroy all the work of someone because of this?
Your an admin, your suposed to be prepared to face those kind of player.

And why is he griefing? maybe he got a good reason, something you probably can't do to help him, otherwise, I don't see why your not helping him other then trying to ban him and make him lose everything.

Level 1 player showing up stealing gas from people's generators and building walls in front of someone's gates so they can't get out of their own base. And throwing down 100 foundations along a beach.... sigh

I shouldn't have to explain all of this. I asked a simple question and was hoping for a straightforward answer.

All you people in this thread is part of what's wrong with this community.. unhelpful :(

unless he is exploiting I would deal with him in game, like the way its ment to be. in a sandbox gamme, you can't expect everyone to play just the same. griefing is part of mmo's and you should learn how to dwal with them. They will never go away otherwise.

OP asks a simple question, griefers ruin his thread too.

Every 1 in the thread thats a good way to get people to help! the only thing I can think of is looking up who you have played with on the server and tracking there steam account down that way but even then I dont think you can find there steam id there so you screwed untill said person comes online and you can catch them with Rcon being on.

As for useing Rcon to your advantage you could leave your comp running with Rcon and hope they log on and catch them that way.

these 2 idieas took me 4 mins to think up and you could have done the same.

Good administrators preventing this type of behavior is what stops their server from becoming like the official servers. Walling people into their houses, pve robbery are not acceptable.

Op, there may be an easier way, but this is what you can do. Go into your saved ark file. You will find profiles there for all your players. Those profiles are under the steam id names. Part of the gibberish in there will say their name.

Depending how many people you have on your server, this could be difficult.

Got it, putting a fat X through your server right now.

It's a PVE server, there is no PVP activity here. And there never will be. That essentially is the very definition of PVE.

Why delete someone for wanting to build abstract? What is wrong with you.

You are the definition of oppression.

Placing hundreds of foundations along a beach without building a central base just prevents other people from building for miles of coastal area. It's a completely malicious act and serves no purpose.. you know what, I'm just deleting this thread. This community is fawking horrible, no one is helpful here.

IRT, did you read my comment?

this tool helps me on my server, it also has log files. when you get the plebs info you can add his steam id to the ark ban list if you have set it your server ini file

Just ignore urban, he is obviously trolling, don't let him derail your thread.

The ARK server admin panel wants a string of numbers.. it won't let me place a manual ban on an actual ID. I'm not seeing a string of numbers.. hrmm. I'll keep hunting.
