Why do I see nothing but low level dinos in Single Player?
For the first time, I have tried the single player and adjusted the resource gathering so I can play around with building a bit easier. I have tamed a few dinos and spent a couple hours looking for some decent level ones but think the highest I have seen is 50ish. Why do they all seem to be in the single digits? I have not changed any config. Files or anything,

the difficulty slider is probably left on default (0.2 or something)

crank that up to 0.75 or beyond and you'll get high level dinos :)

Have you upped the difficulty?

note when you change the lvls, start inviting other dinos from the wild over to tea partys, that no one leaves

Just put it at 1 (max level dinos of 120) you'll still get the lower level ones too.

after setting difficulty to max, you should use the console command ingame: destroywilddinos

this will kill all existing untamed dinos and repopulate your server with mixed levels up to max.

this will also freeze the game for some time while game repopulates the isle.

And potentially cause windows to think the game crashed and force it to shutdown. Easier just to go around killing low level dinos or let the carnivores on the island take care of it for you (especially the spawned alphas).

i have a 3 years old computer, hardly able to run ark, and i used this command 4 times now, with every new introduced dino lately. it freezes the game for 5-20 seconds, while the server is repopulated, but never crashed it for me.

I didn't say It crashed, I said it may cause WINDOWS to think it crashed when its just frozen repopulating. It does dc me from the server when I use it though. (my pc is far far older than yours).

another funny way to kill off low level dinos is spawning in a low level broodmother and let it run rampage freely on the island ;-)

when i did this, i had only really high level dinos left after a short time. but it took weeks to clear up the remaining combat spiders the broodmother spills everywhere ;-)
(did this before we got the destroywilddinos command)

Thank you all for the answers provided, I do not believe I changed the difficulty slider, will crank it up to max this evening and run the destroyalldino command.

destroywilddinos is the command. Make sure to use the right one.

have fun ;-)

and keep an eye on the difficulty slider. i never set mine down to 0.2 as well, but some time ago noticed that i can only find dinos up to lvl 20, then checked, and it was set down to 0.2.
some patch did reset a lot of my options and even deleted my game.ini

so be sure to keep backups of your modified singleplayer inis, if you heavily modify them (adding more player levels, engram points, etc.) because ♥♥♥♥ happens

edit: also it´s always a good idea to keep a backup of the whole save folder, for those moments where a patch goes wrong or you use destroyalldinos instead of destroywilddinos ;-)

Thanks Shogun01, thanks for clearing that up, I may have destroyed all dinos, rather than just the wild ones. :-) Will make a backup as well.

I know im a bit late on this Thread but im having the same problem but, but with a different solution. Ive played single player ark before and ive never had this problem, My dificulty is set to 1 (the max) and i even have the option that makes the highest lvl dino 150. i have whiped the wild dinos several times.

Btw i noticed it was happeneing becuase when i usually went to herb island i would always find plenty of lvl 30s and above but now its kinda rare to find anything high. (at herb island) If someone knows why it is like this, maybe something i did wrong, or something that Ark devs changed about the game that i didnt know about, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
