if you have an ankylo and fur armor you can gaher oil in the snow really nicely 20-30 per rock.
Any rock will give oil? But I am quite far from a snow biome, and ankylos move really slow.
Please elaborate on this strategy. Wouldn't sharks chase you forever once you get aggro? Or do they give up after a while?
I used to go to the south west beach to get some oil, usually no shark there, and I swim faster than shark :)
Only oil rocks. You can just use a metal pick, no need of ankylo, just slower mining.
Get a lowish lvl spino then goto nearest water go to the bottom and eat trilobites you get oil from them its not loads but gets you started. (just watch your oxygen for spino and you)
Get a shark or dolphin i went dolphin as faster then take the lazarus chowder and go to the bottom of the ocean and get the oil,
Get a argy go up snow biom and you have oil on the ground what you could do is build a mini base get a ankylo and then go out and destroy the oil deposits head back to the base go out the next day and do it again.
If you do the third option i would recommend getting a wolf a argy can pick them up knock out and tame to be a bodyguard when your out getting oil..
I'd like to stick to one.
I usually take an argy to the snowbiome. The top-left of the map has a couple small islands that are packed with oil nodes.
I fill my bird up and fly back to my base. Very easy and safe :) Just watch the cold
ptera, good tier pickaxe, fly over to the snow biome, gooooooo
a fortitude of 30 or full fur armor is recommended but not needed, because with a ptera you can fly out of the biome fast enough to heal up if you have lost too kuch health
I like to use the Sarco personally. Hop on him and head between 13 - 30 and 13 - 40 on GPS. Nice areas of ice with oil rocks for harvesting. Plus Sarco seems to have enough weight for just hauling oils and meat. If im up for the swiming its sarco and me the whole way. If not in the mood then I'll load the raft up with a few supplies for repairs and crafting goods. Two decks on the trusty raft so mating pair of sarco on bottom leaves Pteranodons on top deck for flying out to drops when they appear.
Once the shore lines are farmed out then its time to process into gas or leave for making jerky. So its back to the raft tending the fires for meat and refining oil to fuel. the top deck is my moble base so it has all the needs while on the go. Just only one of each and less storage. So my time back on the raft isnt being wasted by doing nothing. Moving meats, oils, hides and finished products to respective storage containters or using it on crafting means the exp will keep adding up while I wait for respawn.
Not to mention going after those drops when farming and crafting starts to get a bit long.
As for time wise, well it might have taken about 1 to 2 hours that netted me 1k gas and about five full stacks of oil for other needs.
Troll lol, get a life.
;)
Don't feed the troll.
