How to deal with stone foundation grief?
Im hoping a dev will read this because theres a big problem with the way player buildings disable spawning of resources and dinos. Nearly every official pvpve server has this problem.

The problem is that a lot of the bigger tribes on a server place stone foundations ect around the place to disable certain spawns and limit dino spawns in some areas. For example, I played on a server where some chinese tribe put stone foundations on nearly every metal spawn to limit the metal other players could access.
Player foundations disable all spawns in a 75 meter radius I believe, so if you space them out correctly you can disable spawns in a huge radius. Every time I get on a server theres some sort of griefing going on with stone foundations. Could the devs lower the radius that it disables spawning or come up with some sort of counter measure. Another problem is on high population servers that have a lot of player housing; its harder to find dinos simply because the areas in which they spawn has been limited by the amount of player houses around. All of this makes it very difficult for a fresh spawn to lvl or really do anything. A big tribe can basically set stone foundatoins in any good spot there is to build a base so other tibes cant build there. Unless you have the resources to destroy the stone foundations you're basically screwed.

How do you play the game if all the accessable metal spawns are disabled by stone foundations?

There is no counter because any tribe who resorts to that tactic is also going to annihilate you if you take down those foundations.

If you want a GAME to play, look for an unofficial server. *shrug*

In PvP that is acceptable strategy. In PvE, it's still part of the game even when it's used for griefing. In mature servers, the players get together and place pillars - perimeters around their bases to keep others from fencing them in and crippling their ability to complete their build, and pillars spread through resource zones to keep others from placing foundations and despawning forests and metals and oil.

That still doesnt address the problem of dinos being harder to find because theres a ridiculous amount of bases around the map. Even if somebody quits the server its not demolishable for 12 days. Theres tons of 1x1 stone bases around the map that nobody uses anymore because they've either moved their base location without demolishing their old base, or they quit the server. Since theres so many houses it limits the area for dinos to spawn. The only option then is to not play on a high pop server. But playing on a low-mid pop server isnt as fun because theres less player confrontation. All they need to do to prevent the griefing, even if its just a little, is to lower the radius in which foundations disable spawning. If it takes more resources to disable an area its less likely to happen.

Must be fun to play on a Foundation-Island. I have looked on some PVE-Server everytime I had to wander a long time to find a place to build something. I have stopped playing on this servers, because there is nothing to gain and it's boring to see EMPTY big Bases and tamed Dinos inside.

I've moved to unofficial, a lot more enjoyable ARK experience.

I don't understand why anyone plays on the official server. They are nothing but unmoderated cess pits of griefing and asshatery.

Don't expect a dev response OP, they've already said this is "working as intended" since you have a pvp "solution".

I think foundations shouldnt block any dino or resource spawns AT ALL. Its absurd when seeing a whole beach empty and just foundations...How is this working as intended? The latest patch notes said that theyd fix the dino spawns, but today everyone in the server complained about the same exact issue reoccuring.

Tell them to use Pillars instead. That doesn't disable resource spawns.

but then dinos will freely spawn in your base ahve fun walking into your house to find a high level alph raptor sitting on your bed heheh...

anyways the only way they can relaly fisx the online play of this game s to move to a much larger map this map is way to small for anyhting over 20 players its still a bit crowded at anythign over 10... smaller tribes cant do anythign except be at the mercy of the large tribes... if they released a massive map then small tribes could ahve places to hide out there would eb more resource areas so the large tribes couldnt jsut police them all... also give tribes territory lines they can claim one area as a territorya dn can only build int aht area no where else alot of minecraft serves do this it prevents griefing and would stop all the foundation spam in this game...

devs stated they cant make the map bigger with ue4, it doesnt like big maps, this is pretty much stressing it as is

Place metal nodes in the ocean, deep down so its there for those who can take it, Maybe make them spawn in random spots on the ocean floor so building foundations isn't really realistic to stop others from getting metal

then my last idea could eb used have the tribes have a set territory that they pick adnd tehy can only build in said territory problem solved no more foundations everywhere and no more players griefing others with gates and teh like... they can add a tribe level thing as well where your territory grows larger.. .this is fair to people taht want to go ona server and play solo and for massive tribes a massive tribe will level faster and get more territory while a smaller tribe will level slower not get us much territory but they dont need it since their is only a few poeple building instead of massive amounts of people...

Can you post a link to this map stuff your talking about? I've heard nothing of this anywhere and have heard stuff from the dev team that basically says you are wrong. I mean, they are working on adding procedurally generated maps..

Completly agreed, opening my own server so far has been the best experiance.
Get to actually enjoy the gameplay and advance with decently mannered people

Not to mention hosting admin events and giveaways!

Official just seems so dull, each server is the same. (i played on official solo up till lvl 76)
