Quetzal eggs overly sensitive
Ok I have hatched a few eggs in our hatchery, But this Quetzal egg is taking the micky.

First off the hatching time as far as I can tell is about 3-4 DAYS (Real life days btw NOT ark days)

Secondly its far to sensitive to hot and cold. take a look

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=539247502

Thats TEN Air cons in a house in the swamp next to the green tower

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=539247546

At that eggs location I get 800 insulation for both hot and cold

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=539247586

And it still loses health from time to time.

Thats 10 air conditioners........TEN....REALLY

Doesn't look like they are all in range. I did mine with 8 and they were fine.

Quetz egg hatches in ~17 hours btw.

I live in the snow and only have to use 2 ACs to keep the Quetz egg incubating perfectly fine. However, this is because they have a very cold requirement in order to incubate - which is why you are having a difficult time in the swamp. Also, a lot of your ACs are not in range for the full effects to hit your egg - the further away from the AC, the less it gets from the AC.

And no, it does not take 3-4 days to hatch. More like 18ish hours.

The size of the egg can mess with the AC units in range; I have 6 in about a foundation sized area, and the amount of insulation it provides varies quite a bit within that small area alone. Quetzal eggs need to be fairly cold (don't quote me, but I believe Drake said 6-8 C), so they can have issues really easily.

And Crumple is correct, expect about a 17-18 hour wait on official.

Just a FYI, Standing on the egg I gain 800 insulation to both hot and cold.

And the room is 2 x 8. Its in range of at LEAST 4 air cons

Telling us that doesn't fix your issue. Obviously you're doing something wrong here if your egg is too hot and people are responding to you saying that we are capable of incubating with much less of an issue. I mean, you can either listen to us or not, but the problem isn't the egg.

4 isn't enough. Need 6.

Quetzal eggs need a cold tempature. Being in the swamp is going to make it harder to hatch it. You need to move away from the swamp to a colder area if you want to hatch it

The issue is not with the egg, Its the Air cons. By any normal standerd that amount of climate control should be enough for a room about 5 times the size.

You dont think its a bit silly to have to cram 6 air cons on a SINGLE foundation.

This isn't real life. ACs function in a very specific way in this game and you need to work around that.

You're trying to hatch an egg with extremely low temperature requirements in the hottest climate in the game. Expect problems. I hatched mine in my base in the snow biome with exactly three standing torches burning around it.

One of the devs posted somewhere that these eggs like to be at around 3 to 6 degrees celcius or something like that. The birds live at high elevations around mountain peaks so it makes sense.

Also, air conditioners suck.

Aircons too far away. Build a pad out of them placed directly beside like

Quetz has to stay within a 1 degree C range to incubate, I think its 5 and 6. So really, its just becuase you layed your hatchery out wrong : )
DaddyC Oct 21, 2015 @ 12:57pm
I was doing a quetzal egg today with 4 ac's. It still lost a bit of health so apparently it was enough. Going to try 6 to see.

Your air cos are too far away place them near each other becouse their effectiveness decreases with range. Oh and btw quetzal takes 20 hours to get to 10% maturing.

edit: check you insulations when you are moving around the room with aricos to determine the best insulating spot.

Your ACs are too high, their efficiency drops drastically if you are not standing right beside AC units. Also by standing on the egg you raise the elevation of your character so character's insulation doesnt represent the one the egg receives. The proper way would be to crouch or go prone near the egg.
