Does an air conditioners facing effect its output?

Correct, the effects of an a/c unit are spherical, the closer you are to it, the better the insulation againat the tempurature.their maximum value is 100 on any given unit, and their max range is 4 ceilings-ish I believe.

they are worthless unless you are hatching, keep that in mind, (or unless you build 10 per a room)

According to tbe wiki the a/c unit covers 2 tiles.

Btw it is not effected by walls or anything like that.
