Does anyone know why the breeding timer was changed?
Right, so before, my Trikes could mate every 2.5 hours or so, now it's more than a day. I saw in the patch notes that it was changed, but I wonder why. Does anyone know?

I, personally, thought it was great the way it was. Especially with non-fertilized eggs being dropped so rarely (except by Dodos) I saw my chance of finally being able to actually make enough kibble to tame one dino.

What are your thoughts? Are there some who think it's a good change, and why?

For Some reason one of my wolves that had triplets said it has 32 days before it can breed again!! anyone else have this problem?
It's quite ok now. But I agree that timers should not be full day, but max 46h.

You are not supposed to swim in fetilized eggs. Think about it, this patch is online for less then a week. With only my 7 female dilos I have produced more then 100 fertilized eggs. And I was doing it on occasion while in base.

Its latest patch - seems like every female now have 1-2 days cooldown.

Well if it was less than the new change, we will still get those people who mass breed just cause they can. One of the main reasons I don't do MP anymore. Even then, I was thinking how I could breed a massive raptor pod and go hunting. I'm in favor of the increased lay time.. tho they should also increase base maturation time. I think 1 egg, 12 hours. 3 days real time to mature from baby to adult. A few thousand meat for a carnivore sounds legit.. over that time.. not in a few hours like its been...

BUT

I'm glad its being tweaked and worked on. PS: you can paint babies :) I colored my dodos to look more like chickens lol
If they didn´t change it I could have kibbled 1-4 120 direwolfs every day. Or made a mass breeding session getting a lot of level 170+ rexes and spinos.
This has killed the breeding in my SP game. If you get to play 3-5 hours a day, a 48 hour wait till your female can breed again? Thats 4 DAYS till you can get a new baby. FIX this please for SP!!!!
The initial speed of rebreeding was based on a need to test it. Now that things are working better they need to start balancing the intended rebreeding times. To reiterate, time intervals were never intended to be short permanently, it was strictly for testing purposes.
thank god every 2 hours really, really

We need a wipe. I had a game I was playing for over 400 hours. I recently started from scratch since all the new changes have come. I'm surprised there haven't been more full wipes.. tho a lot of people don't realize how often this usually happens in an alpha game.. wait till the major wipe before release lol
IF YOU WOULD READ, YOU WOULD SEE THEY SAID NO WIPES TILL RELEASE UNLESS A MAJOR PROBLEM OCCURS, its in caps cause im getting sick of seeint this by people who dont read
I think it is what suppose to be, since "10+ hours per breeding process" is too slow for the testing, so they change it.
The problem is you can still do this stuff though. It isn't going to go away because the timer increased. A tribe with 12 lvl120 rexes, 8 females, 4 males can get 8 eggs in one day, then two days from that, their babies are matured, and the cooldown is gone. Now their 8 females turned into 16 females and 10 males because they got lucky and had triplets/twins. Rinse and repeat. Day four and they now have 28 female rexes and 16 male rexes. All high levels.
People complained about the every 2-3 hours breeding timer and thought a longer time would stop tribes with big herds from breeding a lot. Just means for the big tribes they have to just space the breedings out properly and they can still have a large amount of new animals after 24 hours. Same complaint will happen when the big tribes start controlling tames when inbreeding is implamented. All the complaining is only really going to hurt the small tribes in the long run. The short term speed bumps will not really hinder the large tribes.

it is good that timers are increased so you cannot mass produce new dinos. But i think they should keep timer below 24 h (22 is ideal) so you can breed every day (for large dinos 45h instead of 48). That way those timers wont come in the way of your daily chores.
I'm kind of hoping, once they get to making the timers and stuff different for different animals like they said they would, that the low tier dinos, like Trikes in my case, have shorter timers.

will also hopefully eliminate the issue our server had by some unattended dodos over a couple of days. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4868427/2015-10-18_00004.jpg suckers crashed the server by sheer numbers
I can't see how that happens JUST by leaving dodos unattended... the newly hatched will die if no player is there to take care of it.

Aren't you able to set the times through a setting for your SP game?

Exactly!! So if the complaint is that large tribes grow too big herds of dinos too quickly, this is just going to enhance that problem as it makes it even harder for smaller tribes to keep up, what with the extra administration etc... But then I do think that people are expecting a bit too much from their small tribes, in keeping up with large ones. Other discussion though!
It was changed because the timer was OP. Alpha tribes like mine who already had 20+ kibble tamed 120 rexs were able to exponentially grow in strength. From when breeding was released up until the patch we probably hatched 50 rexs. And that breeding rate was limited by the amount of meat we were able to procure. We have fridges full of fertilized eggs ready to go. We will have a dino army that no tribe will ever be able to contend against on our official pvp server. Thus why the mating interval change. However it is still a huge problem because as we get more rexs the more and more eggs we will have with the large base number we are currently sitting at. Now to feed all these rascals! Sad thing is the next closest tribe in power only has 4-5 rexs in total. Ah well! Other Alpha tribes from screenshots I've seen have even more bred dinos. So yes until the mutations and incest de-buffs come out breeding is broken currently.
