After the Hunger Fix, is it possible to leave babies?
With the various fixes to how much food baby dinos consume, is it possible to leave them with a trough and have them survive?

I run a private server and really like the idea of watching dinos slowly grow over a couple days, however if they still require obnoxious amounts of micromanagement that just isn't going to feasible.

after my raptor was able to eat out of the trough i left a bunch of food for it just in case and logged off. next morning she was fully grown and most of the meat rotted anyways xD so yes they survive and are much easier to tale care of if you like sleeping ;-;

They can't eat from the trough while babies, so ignore Sapphires response. They won't eat from the trough until they're out of the baby stage.

But the answer is yes, you can leave babies easier now. You can put some food on them and come back, they don't everything they can carry within seconds now. I wouldn't leave for 8 hours if they're a baby, unless there's at least a stack or two of good food on them, but you can leave for a while.

Unless you decrease the food consumption rates, you can't leave a baby unattended for more than a couple minutes, even with food in its inventory. Especially if it's a newborn of a smaller species as they can't hold quite as much food as the larger ones. But after they're juvies and can eat out of the trough, like Sapphires said, they should be fine, even overnight :)

The babys (<10%) won't eat from troughs, you will have to feed them manually.
But even that is no biggie anymore, they will have enough weight after ~20 minutes that you can put enough food in their inventory that they will easily come through the baby phase, and when they start eating from troughs with the juvenile phase (>10%) you don't have to worry at all if you have a half filled trough.

Yup, I saw that. You must have missed the part where the OP was specifically asking about when they are BABIES.

Gosh, people these days.

It's like, OP has this question, let me answer one that's unrelated and that will be fine.

I meant the entire maturation process actually, I just used the term baby as a catch all for it. I know the infant stage cannot eat from troughs.

Ah, well they aren't in baby stage for all that long and it doesn't take very long before you can leave enough meat on them to leave them for a bit even in baby stage. Once they're past that and you have a trough then you can pretty much ignore them completely if you want.
