Question about the resolution scaling option
If I set my resolution to 1080p, what resolution will it be if I set the scaling bar to min vs. max? Like is max = 1080p and min = 720p? Or is 1080p in the middle or something? Not sure how that wroks and I'm trying to optimize the settings.

Don't know. But i do know that the optimal setting is the loewst scal (Far left) =]

Far right is highest, far left is lowest. Your display always runs at the resolution set above the scaling, so you'll always be able to pick a native res (or windowed), and you just move the slider for best looks / performance balance. No need to fuss with what the numbers are.

Well i still want to know what it does. Far right = native and far left = what?

Well, need a dev response to know for sure. If I had to guess it's a percentage, maybe 25%-100%, 50%-100%... Etc.

I see. So I have the resolution bar at like half and I'm getting a decent fps. I assume its cause I'm actually playing at like 720p or some dirty console resolution like that :/

I would assume the resolution slider to be texture resolution size.

No it's not, it's a reverse DSR... where it won't render at 4k but around 720p or 792p 900p... it's the resolution the image is generated, then it's extrapolated to your native resoluion.
So, it's just a SI-IiTY way to get low end PC owners to stop complaining their PCs don't run the game well... (I mean GTX 750 Ti and below)

PRO TIP:

1. Set your res to 1600x900.
2. Set res scale to 80-85% (go in the ini and enter hard #'s)
3. Then you should be able to up the AA to Epic. (1-2fps loss only)

I run:

Back up your usersettings and then just plop these in. See what you get. ;)

I get 30-40fps average, ~70fps looking at the sky.

Note, sometimes I use Epic view distance and high quality VFX if I'm in the mood.

Also, you might want to disable SSAO. I think it's worth the 3-4fps hit, but you may not. ;)

Good luck! :)

This is correct. Though it scales linearly with the setting value, not to set res's like 720-792-900..

Pro tip -
1. Set your res to your monitor native res unless you run windowed. then choose the size that works best for you
2. Pick settings to match your hardware, not random dude on the internet. ;)
3. Check out ARK Enhancer to find settings tested on your specific hardware configuration

Playing on medium settings now and getting 50-60 fps normally (adaptive vsync is enabled) so I guess I'll try high settings and see what I get then bump up the res bar and see how far I can go until I drop below 40 fps or so.

I actually have a similar setup as GITECH;

i5-4670k @ 4.4Ghz, GTX 770 OC, 8GB Ram, Win 10 home but I'm running off of a regular HDD.
