Hatching a Rex egg in the north.
Hey everyone, so I am currently trying to hatch my rex eggs in the north. I have like 4 AC untis setup but when I drop the egg next to it, it says its still to cold. Do I need more AC units or a metal room?

you will have to move it to a diffrent area the winter biom is not good for hatching

or build about 8ish ac units in a circle all pointed at center of circle

AC units neutralize the temp of the area so it will never get warm enough for the egg to incubate (wiki has exact numbers but i think it has to be at least 85ish degrees to incubate) try crouding a bunch of campfires around it. if that doesnt work you need to find a warmer spot.

I heard 8 ac units in teh north works fine but you will need a fire or torch to increase it

Industrial grill is your friend here.

I saw a picture with 10 air conditioners, so yes, you need more.

1 ac = +- 4 celsius. rex egg needs 30-35 C, in the north, you would need to use an amount of AC's depending on this.

What is the lowest temperature in your area?

Do ((30 - lowest) / 4), round it upwards, this is youer minimum amount of AC's to ensure your rex egg wont die out. If you want it at night too, the expect a lot more AC's.

I have hatched several Rex eggs in the snow biome. 7 ac units with a catwalk above them to place the egg on, and 2 standing torches to light when nighttime temperatures dip.

I grew mine on the line between the beach and the Whitesky peak (the snow mountain) and 6-7 campfire with sparkpowder did the magic :P And it way more economic than over 9000 AC units

9 acs for minus 20

I live on the blue obelisk mountain and have an outdoor incubator comprised of 12 ACs. Works fine.

Any chance of a picture for some inspiration

Standing torches. not fires. Same heat, less fuel and smaller footprint.

AC Units Works perfectly please be aware that even standing torches, and camp fires never change the tempature around you, only the 2 types of insulation. Hatched several eggs using a nest made of 7 ac units in a U shape with no issues at all.
