Does incubation temperature govern baby dino sex?
I know in most reptiles in the real world the temperature that the egg is incubated at somewhat determines the sex of the hatched baby but is this mechanic also present in Ark?

The reason I ask is because all 6 dinos I have hatched so far ( 1 Rex,Sarco,Raptor, 2 Dilos and a Spino ) have been males.

I'm wondering if my set up ( 8 aircon units keeping a steady Hypothermal 1080, Hyperthermal 1128 ) is somehow causing this?

I know females do hatch, sombody else on my server has a female trike baby

Have I just been unlucky?

i dont believe so, i think it is just random at this point, if u go to low on the temperature it gives u the "too cold" thing, and if its too hot, same thing, so u can really influence sex. mabye later on, but atm, just random

Nope and given not all reptiles have temperature sex determinded babies, the devs really can just keep it random. :)

hmm dinos are not reptiles. they were inbetween for the most part. alot of them lived in really cold areas, which most reptiles can't do .

I would say not, the system can't be that advanced at this stage.

i know that this is 7 years old but this really triggers me, all dinosaurs are reptiles, BIRDS are reptiles, you cannot just go around saying dinosaurs were not reptiles the word "dinosaur" literally means "Terrible Lizard"

They were named a long time before the link between the avian dinosaurs (Theropods) and modern birds was known so "Terrible Lizard" is a little bit of a misnomer.

Birds are not reptiles as they have warm blood not cold, All reptiles eat meat where as birds have a varied diet with some only eating fruit or seeds, Some reptiles have dense bones where as all birds have hollow bones.

And finally from the taxonomic record:
Reptiles belong to the Class: Reptilia.
Birds belong to the Class: Aves.

All birds are dinosaurs but not all dinosaurs are birds, Just as all thumbs are fingers but not all fingers are thumbs. :D

So son't let it bug you, you are both right in your own ways :)
