PVE Base Disappeared - All Pinlocked Containers Destroyed, No Item Bags
I've been playing for a few days on a PVE server, levelling up (learing the intricacies of dino taming), and while I was off searching for dinos (side note: they became suddenly very scarce) I returned to my base about an hour and a half later to find all three pincoded chests gone. No little bags around, some other structures (bed, floor) still standing.

Two of the chests were less than 24 hours old as I've been quite immersed. They were made by my tribe-mate, who hasn't been playing this session but his avatar has disappeared as well.

What could have happened to all those things? I thought property/buildings etc were relatively safe on PVE?

Maybe an alpha?

Would that account for all the items missing?

Could've been an alpha.

Yes. Those little bags that contain the items after a chest is destroyed decay pretty quickly. You coming back an hour and a half later is plenty of time for the items to decay.

Ah. I was not aware of the new level of far-q with regards to the adding of alphas.

I'm not entirely sure if this game is meant to be any kind of fun, it seems to get more and more tedious.

Did you see your tribe mate since ?

Maybe this :

tribe man emptied, broke the chests
upload on ARK all this stuff
leave the server

This has happened to my husband and I a few times. We started our own server, and you are welcome to join us. We know it sucks having to start over again. If you would like some start up supplies and tools we would will gladly help you out with them. Right now there is an unclaimed 300+ T-Rex, with supplies in him. He has not been leveled up yet. The person who claims him gets to do his stats. If you would like to add us to your Steam Friends, in case you need something, or something happens to the server. The other server name is TARZOMBIE. We are a PVE server. We have 3x experience. 10x Taming, 3x Harvesting. 800% difficulty. Player level to 100, soon to 160. Wild Dino's are up to 240. Tamed Dino's are up to 459.

Was this a public or private server?

No, it wasn't my team-mate, he's in the house with me and has subsiquently uninstalled the game on me. I guess I like to play games that are more frivilous. Honestly, all I've wanted since I was nee-hi was a dinosaur game like this, I started playing the minute it was released but had to keep abandoning it due to performance issues (my team-mate doesn't like the optimisation on his machine either, so going solo has been brutal). Its been through a few updates that I didn't pay attention to, so now that I'm a grown up who's had their 'sugar' pushed in and lost everything despite years of hard work, doing it recreationally unhinges my brain and dismorphs my personality. This game is very unappealing to noob avatars, and one who likes to game independantly (I'm very shy and I'm okay with that). I stop having - and being - super fun when I play this and get trapped binge-playing just to scrape ahead. It's exhausting and disheartening and it ruins my day to lose everything so quickly and easily, so this game is probs not for me.

I'll have to wait for a Disney version of a dinosaur game where every one just lives happily ever after and no body ever dies... ;)

Thanks for clearing up the mystery though. I was aghast at the idea it could have been other players, even though I had no idea how to chat for days to thank them, they were still nice, doing fly-bys and dropping off clothes etc, but it makes sense that it was an alpha - having been murdered by one more recently, I wasn't sure of their significance but it makes sense now.

Thanks for the offer to join your server kahleezelover, but I've been privately banned by my SO!

What was your house made of?

Honestly, things like this do not happen all that often.
Lilkinsly Oct 17, 2015 @ 12:04am
Reason I am asking what it was made of is because any dino can get through thatch or wood. Something could have attacked your house, and chests die easy, then the stuff decays. It's a rough island. Happens to all of us.

It was thatch with no fence, out in the open near the spawn point because I died at least once an hour and it took me a really long time - and a lot of advice - to figure out how to tame dinosaurs. I just got myself a small herd of level 4-10 dinos, headed back to the fruits of my grinding to build them a stone fence.... and it's gone. I was super disappointed (depressing was the feedback) as it became the last straw - so much grinding, so much leveling up to get to the metal phase...

I might be unlucky, but I don't deal so well with losing all those hours of effort. It bums me out to toxic level. Thanks though. I'm sad I can't play, I just wanted to get to a level where it would be fun, where some of the risk/reward was more even and I could make actual progress! I've never made it off the beach. I guess I will just have to imagine it! :P

I miss my dinosaurs though.

You need to build yourself a secure place before you tame dino's. Otherwise they will die when you are offline.

Put a basic house down and a bed. Make a 2 or 3 high wall around it. stone preferred, but wood works. Then a little out from that make another wall so that things don't wander up to your first wall. Now you have a safer place.

Thatch is not safe at all. A dilo can eat a thatch house.

Run this on your mates computer

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=468312476

And play on the server on your computer

You can turn the server off when you aren't playing it

If your structure was lost in addition to storage boxes and dinos then it was likely an alpha.

However, if your dinos died during this then you should have received death messages that indicatted what killed them unless you were afk during those moments.

It is unfortunate regardless.
