Prime Meat Farm & harvesting questions
Warning, if you don't like the death of baby dinos, this isn't the thread for you

Prime Farm

With the upcoming update to allow mammals to breed, i've been wondering about the possibility of making a prime meat farm using Phiomias, as it seems all types of baby dinos will provide primes.

How I imagine this working is, on a top of a ramp will be a row of female Phiomias locked in place some how, possibly with walls and pillars, while the male phiomia is in front of them with room to wander.
After a short time all the females should have a baby on the way, which should plop out down the ramp once born.

(If that set up isn't possible, i'll experiment with hatch frames to try finding something that works, if all else fails i'll stick them in a pen and make the babies follow me to the slaughterhouse, if anyone has any other ideas about good structures for this please let me know!)

[b[ Questions [/b]

Now from what I currently know with prime meat harvesting from babies, the lower the stage they're at, the higher the chance of primes, while the higher the stage the greater the yield.

So what i'm wondering is, which would be the optimal stage to harvest them at?
And do Dinos which wouldn't normal give prime meat (dodos for example) as adults, give prime meat if raised from an egg? Or do they lose the prime meat as they reach adulthood.

Darkest thread I've ever read on the forums.

I guess you could have a ramp leading into a room with a rex on aggressive. That way you wouldn't need to do anything but walk by every two hours ( but that would have to be exact, otherwise the meat spoils). Say you have 20 phios penned in. Those are 20 babies that should give you 40 prime probably. Put a refrigerator and an industrial grill next to the rex.

A Tamed Rex would attack and kill a baby dino that hasn't been imprinted on?
What about on PvE servers?

I don't know about PvE but every tamed dino you set to aggressive should attack every wild dino it sees. As long as you haven't imprinted on the babies they will be counted as wild dinos. If on PvE your rex attacks wild dinos if you set him to aggressive, he should get the job done. And I'm just saying rex because in my experience he's one of the best prime meat farmers. You could also have them drop into the water through a hatchframe ontop of a plesio but that would probably complicate matters. Remember, you'd still have to be there to take the prime meat out of the dino!

This would make the structure design a lot simpler, and even semi automate the process which would be a huge bonus.
The Rex is a good idea because of the reach it has as well as AoE attack, not to mention a high damage one would allow for even larger prime harvests.

You're welcome, I hope it works!

You could always do the same thing you plan on doing but instead of letting them hatch stock pile a fridge with basicly hatched eggs and hatch 40 babies at once and nom nom nom

The plan is to use mammals so I won't need to bother with eggs as they should incubate in the females.

When I saw the patch notes and it said "babies give prime meat", I knew eventually this thread would follow.

I wasn't able to harvest from a baby dodo unfortunately, not sure if that was a fault on my part or ... they're just too small to harvest from.

It seems when they die they clip into the ground so you have to pick them up once and drop them again. Then it should work fine. They give me about 2 prime, same as every other baby.

I'll keep that in consideration, see how the manual breeding pans out. I'm still thinking phiomias will be the best choice.
