So yeah, they work just fine. Actually, they make incubation trivial. Drop egg, leave.

Ad ac give a better bonus for cold then hot. I found with even 4-6 acs. That some eggs that need a hotter temp still need a fire close at time
This means an ac insulates the environmental differences of the environment's temperature, and the egg's NCT, meaning it will not deviate from its temp that much.
A tidbit: temperature STARTS at your/the egg's NCT and *then* environmental differences are applied, insulated by your hyop/hyper insulation. ACS that give both add so much to this insulation that you do not deviate that much from the NCT, keeping the eggs healthy.
Tldr. They keep you comfortable no matter what you're in, not "hot or cold"
Depends where you are, the a/c basically just gives hypo/hyperthermoic insulation. You just need a bunch of them lol. This is my setup, I live in the snow biome and I can incubate any egg without losing health. Just barely enough for a giga in the snow.
