Non-Dedicated Multiplayer Session??
Hey.
I'm quite confused by the Host Multiplayer Session, because I'm new. How does it work? How can I play with friends-only over the internet (not LAN)?
I don't want to open Ports (Port Forwarding?), neither am I allowed to.
Please help a noob out, lol.
Thanks.

tick the private checkbox on a non dedicated multiplayer session then invite friends via steam

But how do I make my own for friends only?

As far as im aware making it private only allows people who are invited access, thus creating server for you and friends. I think you have too run dedicated server otherwise, because this way you have to be online in order for them too be online....

you can alter ini.files probably, but one of the communities techy guys will have too help you with that..

Give them the IP for the server and have them connect via the servers option under steam.

Can you put a password on the server then?
Akejsa Oct 14, 2015 @ 3:14am
Oh and also... How do you join your server again XD?

Afaik no, you cant put a password on that. But you have full admin rights, just kick them.

Non-dedicated is no realtime server. You leave, your server saves and shuts down.

Non dedicated multiplayer session uses your singleplayer world,. I save the local files to desktop folder, and switch between them when i host or want to play my own world.

so basically you just reload the game and choose non dedicated session to restart the server...

or you can use the same world and choose each time you log into the game to either play that world in singleplayer mode, or non dedicated multiplayer.

They will be tethered to your character too which means they have to be within a radius of you. So you can't build at opposite ends of the map as they will keep reappearing next to your character if you run away from them. Quite funny tbh.

You can increase the tether distance in options though to make it a bit better.

If you want to play on the same map miles away and independently from each other then you need to run an Ark Dedicated Server (free download via steam) but you should really have a seperate machine for that or it will bog your main machine down.

The other option is to search the browser and find an unoffical server that somebody else has set up (look in the Tribes forum for new servers).

Thanks a lot guys! I don't need real-time multiplayer, so I'm completely fine with that! One thing I just noticed tho, is that I pressed ESC and on the left I could see Server Password (nothing was put) and Server Admin Password (the pass I use).. so could there be a way to set a pass?

Also, open the console via tab and type ShowMyAdminManager to open the , well, admin manager.
