Megalodon question
I just tamed my first shark. What should I set it on so that it can defend itself? For now, I have it set on the default which is "attack target". Should I leave it on that or will it wander off if I do? I'm not sure of the settings for sea creatures. I usually leave my land pets on neutral but I'm not sure what to do with fish. This is my first sea pet period.

I would think they work the same as land pets really. Attack target is not a good idea because I know I left my land guys on that and then I was one hit, my dinos would not defend themselves. >_<

You realy need to build a pen :( or put a transponder on it. Wild sharks will attack it and they move during the fight if set on Neutral. If your off line overnight say, it might get hit several times and move quite far making it hard to find later. Or park it in shallows wild sharks rarley come up onto the shallow beach any more and leave it on passive.

A pen is in the works but this is until then.

Get an anchor animal like a turtle, sit on it and whistle the shark follow it on neutral. Put the anchor animal on passive. Make sure this is somewhere the wildlife can't agro the turtle, like on a small dock out of the water. The shark will defend itself but shouldn't stray far from the turtle. This works 80% of the time. We used to keep our sharks and pleases this way before we had a pen.

Btw, according to the wiki you can't use a transponder on sharks. I don't know why that is. It's at the bottom under notes: http://ark.gamepedia.com/Megalodon.

I built a pen (ocean floor to 6 feet above surface) for my Megalodon and Plesiosaur. They were both gone, never seen again, when I logged back in, and were set to Neutral. It's PVE so I know they weren't killed by players but...basically I don't trust them.

Someone else mentioned keeping one on passive and anchoring the rest to it on neutral. If I combined the pen with that, do you think they would be good?

Ought to be. A passive dino won't move unless an attack knocks it back or it itself is set to follow something.
