So curious who here lives in the swamp biome or snow biome and your preferences why?
Guess l am curious as to who choose what and why? Also how do you turn off the amount of light you get in the snow biome as l am always getting blinded and sore eyes from the brightness!! I choose the snow biome cause l just love the danger and the place there but l always find it too bright lol hence why l want to know how to turn off bloom via cheats!

Thanks and looking forward to finding out who choose where and why

I live in the snow biome, mostly for protection against tribes that arent suited for it. the light isnt very much an issue if i use the r.bloomquality 0 and r.lightshafts 0 commands.

To change the lightin use gamma followed by a number like " gamma 2".
I have a small base in the snow biome but it isn't my primary base. I mainly did it to keep my wolves and deers there safely and because it is kind of a cool area.
i do i live there because all the titanboa eggs and plant speices x seeds

I have a tiny base on the shore in the swamp, but it's mostly used as a stop-over safe place for when I want to go from one side to the other.

We have our main base in swamp because it was there before (although update demolished 2 3rds of it), it's a nice spot in the middle of the map, tons of wood/thatch/stone and metal around the base. We're actually living at the corner of the swamp.

We have a base in snow biome (still main building to be rebuilt) because of the nice location, lots of ressources of all kind around, water pen is in progress including walk way down the cliffs. Big bird pen was already rebuilt. It's just a gorgerous landscape there. Still, although now covered with snow.

Regarding brightness -> press tab and type
r.bloomquality 0
r.lightshafts 0
gamma 1 (just gamma is default), play around, "." is decimal separator

Cheers

I live in the snow biome because I enjoy the danger of it and the proximity of resources. Besides, it's beautiful.

Swamp - Because I absolutely love my Bayou! http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/646622015387221462/8240FAC76F49B89DAF0E436AD8A8BC3AC5401B2B/

The atmosphere of the swamp has completely revitalized my desire to build decoratively.
Plus, we got pushed out of our old home with the -1648267471 degrees temperatures.
Nothing more annoying than listening to "BBRRUUUHH HUUUUU BRRRRR!!! HOOOOUUUU!" every 15 seconds as you permanently freeze to death.

I have found that the -sm4 launch option helps immensly with the massive glare in the game.

I live in the snow biome. I do what I'm supposed to and survive. If there's a glare off the snow then I do just what I'd do in real life and look away or don't let it get to me because its a game and not really bright enough to hurt my eyes. If I'm stuck outside its pretty easy to make a couple standing torches. With full Fur plus 2 standing torches, I can stand outside in sub-zero degree temps and have 500+ hypothermic insulation. And the torches can run for a long time off thatch. Just spent last night taming a 104 Rex in the middle of the snow and that worked fine.

my base ended up being in the snow biome after the patch in singleplayer, now my trikes have to kill wolves that wonder over to close, but the wolves have yet to be a threat to them.

My base is also right across the water from whereall the carnivores spawn on the beach now. But since AI is retarded I had the easiest 120 rex tame ever, the hardest part was getting across the water to it while killing piranhas. feeding it was stupidly easy because i just killed the nearest prime meat giver on my ptera.

This place is great.

I live in the northwest corner of the map in the snow biome. Why? because it looks neat, I like having to dress and prepare whenever I go for a jaunt outside, every resource I need is right outside (oil rocks, pearls in the waterways, metal nodes on the shoreline) it's pretty awesome.

I moved a bit farther from the swamp. I dislike the snakes and how they will group aggro from almost any distance. No matter which dino I am on.
Vantus Oct 6, 2015 @ 8:04am
Snakes and Sarcos don't bother me in the Swamp Biome.
It's the super-agressive dragonflies and the groups of 6+ mate boosted Dimorphodons hiding in the trees that get in my way the most.

Not to mention the over-population of Paracers that make it their goal in life to head STRAIGHT for my base simply to tear down all my decorative trees. Bloody trolls!

Man... I love the swamp. :)

I just get so many of the snakes on me I gave up going into the swamp for a bit. The snow biome in sp looks great but I have yet to try and go there on our MP server.
