Installing mods on private server
I've been installing mods on my private server and so far only 1/4 of them have worked. Even then some of the engrams on the working one were unlearnable.

I subscribe to the mod and download it. I then copy the associated mod # folder and .mod file from my Steam/steamapps/common/ARK/ShooterGame/Content/Mods folder into the associated server folder. I use ARK Server Manager and so from there I put the mod # into the Mod IDs line in a xxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxx format.

Am I doing something wrong or is it that these mods are not compatible with the current version?

after you subscribed to a mod you need to run ark on your client first to install the mod. then you copy the files over. after a mod update you need allways the same way, start ark install the mods(lower right corner) then close ark and copy to server. reboot server and go.

You should actually delete the mod folder and file when it updates to force it to download a new copy. There have been many times where steam doesn't update all the files leaving it broken. Usually not a problem if you are just joining a game, but if you are using those files to upload to a server it can be problematic.

never had this happen, the workshop downloads files but only Ark install them so you allways just launch ark to install/update the mods and then copy the files to the server.

It happens when small changes are made to a mod. It's almost as if steam only checks file sizes to determine if a file needs to be over written with a new version.

It's happened several times to me with the aku shima mod. And it has always been fixed by deleting and forcing a new download.

i have aku shima too and never had any issues even if steam is not really downloading something you need to start ark to install the mod and then copy the files over it cannot go without launching ark then you get a mod mismatch error.

Make sure all mods are clean and dont alter base game content. this is shown by the green puzzle piece on mods pictures.

It is best to get clean versions of the mods, so wipe the file then let it redownload the mod when updating.

You also shouldn't need spaces inbetween mod IDs. Im not sure if it has any effect on the server reading it but I always just use the comma to separate, and dont space them out.
For example xxxxxxx, xxxxxxx, xxxxxxx instead of xxxxxx, xxxxxxx, xxxxxxx

If you post what mods you use too, we can double check them for compatibility. Sometimes its best to get a fresh set of eyes on a problem.

i forgot the load order can be a problem some mods need to be in first place to work .

I figured the problem out awhile ago, it's what Joeltron said about the spaced. No spaces between xxxxxx, xxxxxx, xxxxxx.

Thanks guys!
