Building Insulation?
Hey, does anyone have any numbers for how much insulation buildings provide? I know the different tiers have different insulation but can't find Data on just how much, and I was also wondering if things like structure size, windows, etc. Have an impact.

Really curious about this myself.

i have a large house in the swamp biome area and i've found the insulation tends to be spotty, i've had times when i've been inside an enclosed area and it doesn't register that i'm indoors

and i can move 5 feet and i'll get the house insulation icon, very strange

i have found that the sloped roofing pieces don't always act as enclosed space when placed, sometimes the game doesn't register them being an enclosed structure, which is probably part of my problem since i have a high, vaulted ceiling on my house
Neme, I have seen that the metal grills throw a lot of heat over a pretty wide area. I keep one running in my houseboat all the time in the snow biome. Expensive to build but cheap to run, 1 gas lasts about 30 minutes.

I'll do some SP testing when I get off work and try to nail this down.

I built a little 4x4 house in the snow biome and so far have had no issues if i am inside i can even not where the Fur gear. my only heat sources so far are a Forge and a campfire.

How low has the outside temp gotten? I put the grill in after a cold snap at night where I was hypothermic inside (with icon) in fur. Also, what material is the house? Mine is wood I'm slowly replacing with stone.

Complete stone and coldest have had outside was -16 and inside i did not even have the snowflake icon
Hmm, mine was around -25 with full basic fur, 20 fort, and a large 3x5x2 wood building.

i am gonna place a grill on my 2nd floor and with the norths plain baka lvl of oil i am just gonna make it run forever.
The effect is stronger the closer you are, so I mounted mine right behind the rudder on my houseboat.

floors are 2 tiles high so if i place it in the middle of the room it should have a nice effect i hope.
I'll test that too to get ranges in a little bit.

at -8 with no fires i have no cold inside with fur gear on but outside i do. So stone insulates a decent amount.
at -11 i got the snowflake inside but with the Forge it went away. Current outside conditions are Night and snowing

Okay, so results are in, and it seems like all structures give the same insulation, regardless of material, size, or height. I got 113 hypothermal and 56 hyperthermal from all of them :/

As far as heat sources go, the grill wins out by far. I got +193 standing right next to it, 126 one foundation away, and 43 two foundations away.

Campfire, cooking pot, and furnace all provided about +95 right next to them, 50 one foundation away, and about 10 two foundations away.

Standing torches gave +95 right at them, 65 one foundation away, and 35 two foundations away.

Air conditioner gives +110 right on it, 60 one foundation away and 10 two foundations away.

Seems like standing torches and grills win here. A grill dead center in a 5x5 structure will give decent heat to the whole floor, but two standing torches will give about the same effect in the same spot. 100 sparkpowder will fuel a standing torch for almost 24 hours realtime, so a pair of standing torches seems to be the best bet economically unless you're putting in a grill anyway.
I'm really disappointed with the A/C ... that still needs to be fixed. Big time.
Did some playing with spacing, and if you put a pair of standing torches every four foundations it'll give you +100 anywhere in the house. Add the +113 from the house itself and I'm warm anywhere in the house naked even on the coldest nights with 20 fort.

Next set of experiments is to see how insulation and temperature specifically interact.
