Fur armor + 30 points spent in furtitude = hypothermia in snow biome.
What's the point of fur armor if you still get hypothermia in the snow biome? As i said, i have 30 points on fortitude, and with the fur armor i can't stay in the snow biome for longer than 10 minutes without having to leave before i die.

Fur armor should completely protect against cold, otherwise i see no point on using it or living in the snow biome yet.

Try fire. And being indoors. And not leaving your warming house until its light out? Remember that campfires overlap heat output when you place them close to one another. And as always, have lots of torches, even to have one burning in your hand during the day. It helps.

You need fria curry, the fur set works just fine after all this is a survival game. you just need to be smart about it, if you could not be hurt by the cold it would not be fun.

Prior to this guy.

First off Here are several rules of tundra biome -

Don't rules
1. Don't go during the night.
2. Don't go when it's raining.
3. Don't go when it's coldwave.
4. Also Avoid it if you are under-equipped [aka; not having enough torches, or fur armour damaged. Exception if you're starting off.]

Do rules
1. Do it during Heatwave.
2. Make sure you are equipped.
3. Ride on some bulky big dinosaurs.
4. Have a route planned because you're timed.

Fur armor should not completely protect against cold. Nothing should make us impervious to anything.

With that, I only have 20 fortitude and with a full set of fur armor I have no issues in the cold, even when it goes negative. Granted, I have to eat more food. Even if I ate no food I would last longer than 10 minutes.

Either you are egagerating or your server is set to be more challenging in the elements.
Here's what I do.

If I'm cruising the coast for oil, pearls, etc, I've got an enclosed-house raft with an industrial grill behind the rudder. Keeps me nice and toasty even in the coldest, darkest nights.

To go inland, I usually wait for day and good weather. Then I'm usually okay with just the fur and a torch at most. I'm currently working on an enclosed all-weather Paracer transport/smelter to carry me around (put smelters around the saddle seat for more warmth!) which should work as well as the raft. Once he's done I'm going to start working on a high mountain base.

For bases, air conditioners seem broken. HOWEVER! Industrial grills are pretty awesome and fhrow a good amount of heat up to about 6+ tiles, and only costs about one gasoline every half hour, which is nothing especially with how abundant oil is in the snow.

18 fort, full fur set here and i spent 2 real life hours running along the beaches farming oil and pearls. Had not a single problem and my torch still had more than half hps by the time i was done. This going into the water at night. I did however need 60 cooked meats. To counter me running between nodes. I was using my argent only to get from beach to beach.

just don't go out at night? or use a torch if you must? I normally do my building\crafting\cooking\farming at night time, it's warmer in doors. if i must stay out at night (for a tame or similiar) then I place a standing torch or campfire near by. with the constant cold, you need to eat more food anyway - and cooked meat helps with resisting the elements...

That is completely awesome

Is it possible to place campfires on the buildable platforms? Because if so, you could ride with your house and a nice warming fire in your back through the tundra ^^

I'm not complaining about the tundra weather, guys. I like it the way it is forcing you to adapt. I'm talking about the fur armor. It is suposed to help us fight the cold, and it's only useful at day. I find it extremely disappointing for the cost and uses. Not only it's the hardest armor to make in the game right now, but the defenses are really low, and the fact that at night using a torch, i get the same hypothermia than using leather armor, is just absurd, there's no real point on using the entire armor, when you can get the same benefits while using 2 pieces during day and none during nights unless you have a campfire or any other heat source near.

Yes, you shouldn't be going outside at nights in the tundra without proper equipment, but if you need to fly around becase X reason at night, you basically need to take a bunch of medic kits or similar just to stay in the air, because the armor, food and a torch is not enough to not die.

Here is the deal. The lowest temperatures you will see is 0F or -18C. In order to not lose health at those temperatures you need about 455 TOTAL Hypothermia resistance.

281 resistance comes from the fur armor. Leaving you still needing 174 from Fortitude and fire. A torch gives you 51 or a campfire gives you 93. See here http://ark.gamepedia.com/Fortitude to see how much you get from your fortitude.

I (what I have) recommend using full fur, 48 fortitude, giving you +99. This leaves you 75 short. However, if you hold a torch you get 51 and end up 21 short. So you will still lose health a little bit, but eating food will keep up with this small loss.

Anything above the worst temperature and you will be fine.

...is around 0F or -18C. It can get colder but not by much unless you are on the mountain. ;)
