WHY does bug repellent require PELT to craft???
Title kinda says it all, but I'll elaborate. I don't see how this can be "balancing" the spray, because animal fur/pelt is (as far as I know) NOT a component in making a substance made to repel insects. Maybe instead of pelt it should be either charcoal or spoiled meat or another semi-rancid material that would ACTUALLY prevent an insect from nomming on your skin. I'm not saying you should be able to craft HUNDREDS of repellents at once (they last 30 min and spoil after 5 hours as it is), but you shouldn't have to use the main component in the only armor type that keeps you alive in one region to make something that keeps you from being swarmed by bugs in another region. What do you guys think?

Working as intended... it isn't like PELT is hard to get anyway....

I suppose it could be that mammals have developed deterents to insects in the way that we smell over the centuries. While the insects today have adapted along with us, it might affect prehistoric ones from a prior period in time.

That's still a pretty weak explaination though. Pelts? Weird.

Not quite the point, and technically yes it is if you don't want to enter the snow biome and want to focus on the swamp more

It would make sense if you also need gazoil to make it.

I would think Chitin would be a pretty good substitute. Smell like a bug? Smell like a dead bug or possibly a bug eating thing? Then they stay away. Or they could repurpose a plant, possibly one of the currently available "junk" berries.

Mix stone, chitin, some berries, and a waterskin, and mash it up in a mortar.

YES!!! THANK YOU! See that makes a LOT more sense. Devs, I hope you're reading this. And the berries should be amar and tinto berries.

Pelt isn't hard to get, that's right. Pelt comes from wolves & mammoths. But it's no where easy to haul back either. It's just way to heavy. They exagerated for no reason. You can carry tons of stacks of hide / leather which should also be heavy as heck but nope, not pelts. I can even carry tons of stacks of wood logs but nope, not pelt. Feels like pelt is as heavy as metal to lug around. It will drop in small quantities too but that's all you can carry any way. And I agree. Especially with the swamp now. Why should you have to run up to the snow to carry a bit each time back let's say if you just need some for your current area. Why on earth would they even attach that to pelt. That could be replaced with chittin and some other thing. Not everyone lives in the snow. There is no reason to attach that to the recipe. Now that's it's added in game, it should be anything that is like any other consumable. You should be able to even make that stuff as a newbie without hauling it from the snow biome. I didn't find any pelt any where from the beachy areas. I literally had to go to the snow. But you can use the repellent any where as there are bugs all over the map / island. I do agree. They should of thought that out a bit better. Just ran this by my tribe and they all agree too. As far as the spoling, just put all of your consumables in the fridge once you get the mats to make one. I put food from my crops in there, all my cooked food and my other stuff like brews and now these repellants too. Anyone know if you can use the "use remote item feature" to give it to your mount to repell bugs for them too? I was on my mount and since the devs made it impossible for me to fight on a mount, I had to stop, jump off my mount to kill bugs and let my mount kill flying bugs too. If it doesn't work, they should make it work for tamed pets too. :) They can also make a second way to make it so it has 2 recipes and is more accesible to all level players since bugs are every where.

Collogen/gelatin binding agent.

We gotta make sure the devs read this! I'm sure most people can agree that it's a bit unfair to those that can't or don't want to venture into the snow biome JUST to be able to comfortably live in any other region of the map!

Oh you mean like CEMENTING PASTE? Which is a product of CHITIN (aka dead bug)? Cementing paste would kill 2 birds with 1 stone here, and it's significantly more accessible to lower-mid-level players.

Yeah I don't like that it costs Pelt as well, does not make sense. Maybe it could cost plant species X seeds instead?
I agree here's hoping the switch out the materials. With somethingthat makes sense- like cementing paste or charcoal or chitin.

They are nerfing plant species x drop rate back to what it was before the swamp update.

They are suppose to be rare. So rare that your lucky to find even one seed gatherig plants over the course of 30 mins. Not getting 100 in less than 20 mins.

The developers are using pelts as currenty pelts are only good for making fur armour. There needed to be more use for pelts and to be fair pelts acting a a deterant to bugs is realistic.

Agree with changing resources not to have to go to later game to get supplies. Good ideas in this thread.

No, I mean something that is created from the skin and skincells of hair bearing mammals.
