Land claiming system for PvE
Currently on PvE servers, people are filling the map with pillars wich prevent other people building bases. On the PvE server I play on its very hard for a new player to find somewhere to even put a small hut without venturing into harder areas. The land thats been Pillared is not being used and is simply there to prevent others playing.

I would suggest a limited area claim system for PvE
People get a number of claim flags (say 5) when they create their character, each flag will 'claim' a set amount of land (not sure how much is reasonable, say 10x10 area?
Then people can either have multiple small bases, or combine the flags in one area to have a bigger base and tribes can combine their members flags to get an even larger area

You would still allow building outside claimed areas but make those either PvP destroy-able or very short PvE decay timers.

As it is the PvE game needs something to allow new players to get a foothold, so what are your thoughts and opinions.

Thanks :)

The Island huge, find another spot to build.

Agreed. I ended up leaving PVE-35 because I hated just seeing the massive landgrabs. I was happy with my territory, but the largest guild on the server landgrabbed everywhere else and I got sick of seeing the pillars everywhere I turned.

think there needs to be a limit of foundations not attacthed to other foundations

Or just make it so a single foundation can't block a whole resource spawn and requires a sizeable base to do so.

nothing prevents you from building on your raft or on your para/bronto/plesio. If you are alone you don't need a big base, so enjoy nomadic life :D

This is happening on PvP servers as well. To all of those saying "decay" and "blow them up." You really don't understand the length some tribes will go to grief. They won't allow decy to kick in and you can't make enough explosives to remove them.

I have a base im fine with, I am concerned that new players being unable to build without heading inland a long way will cause the servers to quickly stagnate (also, yes the island is big, but peoples ego's are bigger, very hard to find a clear spot even inland)

Its impossible to build for newcomers, they need to get inland and most of the time they just die. The beach as been made for the newcomers, but so many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with no life keep spawing pillars and ugly miles long fences all over the place . I cant believe the game makers does not stop this by limiting the amount of sturctures someone can have in the game like every other game of the genre.

I run an Unofficial Server but that is one of the very few rules I have. If anyone builds pillars or foundations that is not part of an in use structure then I will remove them once I know of their location.

You could always check out a private password protected server :steamhappy:

devs already plan to increase decay on lone foundations
krawll Oct 1, 2015 @ 7:36pm
limiting the area that a tribe can build on will never happen unless the devs change their minds .

They want to limit the amount of rules in the game . They follow the `` anything goes`` mindset .

Which is one of the reasons why they make some things non lockable and they added a pin code system for doors and such .

They want people to be able to steal from other players , they want players to compete for land and such . It`s a first come , first serve kinda world and you just have to learn to live with it .

Probably the solution in this case is to make lone foundations have a very short auto demolish timer (with the auto demolish time getting greater the more things that are attached to it)

That isn't why they're there.

Pillars don't despawn resources like trees rocks and dinosaurs. Foundations do. Before you bought the game, griefers laid thatch foundations across entire servers before anyone mounted the pillar defense to protect the resources they NEED in order to keep the stuff they already have... and prevent the entire server from looking like an ethiopian landfill.

Pretty much everyone who lays pillars out across an area does so in order to prevent thatch foundation spam, and if you ask nicely they will most likely clear you a space after having a talk with you about foundation despawn radius and destructive sprawl.

Your complaint at the moment is about protective sprawl... so either you feel entitled because you're new... or you're a troll looking for a way around the only defense against massive trolling that those of us with pillars have already experienced repeatedly, waited out, spent weeks cleaning up, and then prevented from ever happening again.

If you don't want neighbors, play local.

If you want civilized neighbors, try chatting with them. If you're new, you've got literally nothing to lose.

Whilst you are correct in some points, when the beaches and clear land with no resource and not near their base is coverd in pillars, then your point is moot. Your attempts at insults miss the mark, i am neither new, nor a griefer, I have a base my own that im happy with. My concern is with new people and the life of the server.
