Fan made dossier: shantungosaurus
introducting everyone's favourite huge friendly beast of burden

common name: shantungosaurus
species: shantungosaurus giganteum
time: late creataceous
diet: herbivore
temperament: docile

wild:
this enormous animal inhabits the dryer areas of the island, and the grasslands.
this remarkable animal looks like an oversized iguanodon, and lives in small groups of 2 to 5 individuals.
I have no idea how they get enough food out of those arid regions, but they seem to be able to survive long periods without any food.
it's size means that it's entirely safe from most predatos, it's weight will produce immemse stresses on animals it attacks, breaking bones and flattening smaller creatures.
The only animal that i can imagine attacking a shantungo will be the T.dominum, but even the strongest predators need to be carefull when attacking a group of them.

domesticated:
This enormous animal is incredibly usefull for tribes for more than one reason.
It's sheer size means two things; It can carry stunning ammounts of goods, and it's hard to kill.
It has a base carrying capacity approaching the brontosaurus, and so does his strength.
I've seen some tribes making a ''dino-convoi'' of them when they want to transport large quantities of goods over long distances, since it's quite a bit faster than the famous bronto.
It doesn't need a lot of protection from predators, because most of them are wise enough to leave them be.

statistics lv.1
health: 1150
stamina: 300
weight: 650
speed: slightly slower than a paraceratherium, but still faster than the bronto.
melee damage: 40

further info:
they have no way of harvesting most resources except berries, so that's something they are not useful for.

please say if you like the idea or not and why, so i can change it.
English isn't my native language (i'm dutch) so please report grammar mistakes.

NERF. Too fast, too much damage, too much Health, lives in groups.....

Here are more "reasonable" stats:
lv.1
Health: 950-980
Stamina: 300 (This seems ok)
Weight: 650 (I guess it could work due to being more stable then a Rex)
Movement Speed: slightly lower, as paraceratherium had legs like a rhino, allowing for high speed
Melee Damage: 25 (Hadrosaurs where one of the least impressive dinosaur groups in offence. This species would rely as size to deter predators, but not actually face them head-on. Hadrosaurs could not even do a proper smack down, as most of their weight is centered over the hip and not the forelimbs)

On top of that, it would be hard to tame as taking on a group of them while not being mounted would be probable suicide.

well, i didn't know the excact stats of some animals so i just thought: this seems fair.

but your idea is very good

and yeah, i know the hadrosaurs weren't fighters but i pictured it as an enormous animal (with a very exaggerated size) so it would do a lot of dmg.

and remember: it would be a high-level mount

Stats are a bit op, but the Dino is beautiful :D

the t-dominum is more op, so i don't see a problem

actually, about the speed:
It has been argued by scientists that Hadrosaurs were much faster than previously believed.

the attack: yes, I know ALL of this already, but this species is built more bulky, with more weight at the shoulders, enabling mighty smack downs similar to Paraceratherium
