How do you pronounce Chitin?

While i am waiting for a fix so i can play the game again on its lowest settings due to having the wrong type of great grafix card, i thought i would check out some vids of how other people play. That in itself is a sad state of affairs, but Fallout 4 will soon be here!

Anyway, Chitin. An odd word with so many ways to incorrectly pronounce it. I have spent a long time pronouncing it with an extra letter that isnt even there, but no one has ever bothered to correct me. Ch~it~lin. Most pople call it Ch~it~in, but that isnt right. It is just the most recognisable use of the Ch syllable to us plebs. Like Church or Ranch, but this word uses it in the sense of Choir or Loch. That K is followed by a Y as in Yes so produces a Ky syllable similar to Kite. The second syllable is Tin as used in the word Tin. It is correctly pronounced Ky~Tin, not to be confused with Kite~In, which if you used the latter will just ruin the game completely.

Ky-tin. It sounds cooler than CHit-in or ♥♥♥♥♥♥

When your 14 year old corrects you for saying it CHI-tin, instead of KY-tin (KI-ten) then you start pronouncing it correctly. Now I just have to get everyone in my tribe to pronounce it correctly.

Ky-tin is more difficult, for me, to pronounce that kee-teen, i's certainly because my non english native language.

KY-ten. Like you're trying to say "kite" but add an N sound to the end of it. The T should end up being soft and the stress on the first syllable. But most people will be able to figure out what you mean.

Worked in an insect zoo/museum for years. I'm the only one who pronounces it correctly in the tribe. I've resorted to calling both chitin and keratin "shell".

That would be german pronounciation for example, while writing it the same way so it is legit
