Also my Gf spawned inside spikes on a beach once. Fun stuff. As for the amount of structures, PvE or PvP server? PvP servers have a lot less structures but the map (even on newer servers) is usually still full of random little huts etc.
We will tear down our base at that spawn point (the area there is anyhow overcrowder) and maybe leave a foundation or 2 to block it or put up a sign.
this is very much still an issue, you go to a server and try to spawn and end up in a players base, and nothing you can do about it but kill yourself or leave the server
They won't.
This has been an issue for the vast majority of Ark's existence. If you're trying to play on official PvP servers, this is deliberate, malicious sabotage of new players by alphas who've run everyone else off the server and don't want to have to patrol the map for competition. There will be nowhere you can build.
Point is, just forget about official and find a well managed unoficial.
That's ultimately what the alphas on those servers want. Free, no-fees personal servers with no wipes, no griefing, a full dino cap to themselves, and minimal effort to protect what they have. Ironically defeating the purpose of PvP entirely.
Alphas need to be possible to unseat, something Wildcard apparently doesn't feel is necessary to fix.
