However the server not showing up can be worked around fairly easy. Just add the server you are trying to join to your steam server favorites. It will then show up in game under your favorites tab.
If the server still doesn't show up, it means you either can't play with mods, the server isn't port forwarded correctly, the firewall of the host is blocking connections, or the server version and client version are not updated to the latest build.

Correct. Epic players cannot play on modded content servers. Only steam players. There is no firm eta when modded content is actually going to come to epic for ark players so if you are truly intent on playing such, you'll need to get the game on steam. Just wait until ark is on sale if you can.
It will never happen. Buy the game in a Steam sale.
