lets talk tranq dart vs arrow

so i just went on the wiki and looked up the tranq dart and arrow and by the sounds of it the dart is not as good as the arrow still am i right in saying this ???

here is the info on the wiki

A tranquilizer dart inflicts 137.5 torpor to the target with a 100% damage Longneck Rifle. A higher damage rifle increases torpor amount, but does not increase the health damage of the dart; it remains constant at 25 points of damage for every target. This can be used to easily knock out humans.

The Tranquilizer Arrow is used for rendering creatures unconscious. It does less damage than a Stone Arrow.png Stone Arrow, but increases the target's Torpor. Tranq Arrows can be used as ammo for the Bow.png Bow, Crossbow.png Crossbow and Compound Bow.png Compound Bow.

Upon hit, they instantly increase the target's torpor by an amount equal to 200% of the weapon damage and give an additional amount of torpor equal to 250% of the weapon damage over the course of the next 4 seconds.


by the looks of the numbers and % the arrow does way more than the dart does and i am wonder why this is ??

not 137.5 torpor...its 275

It was just increased in update 218.3 so it does double the torpor, so like nano said it is 275 now

but is it only good for humans the tranq dart or can i use it on dinos and what one is best

they said 100% increase... but its not so. i shot my rex (no saddle) with my RS LNR, and got 260 torp. prior to this patch i was getting 175 torpor. so that doesnt read as a 100% increase to me.

same dino same gun same batch of ammo made.

as a comparison, my JM Xbow does 245 torp to the same dino.

If these darts cost 1 bullet 2 narco it would be ok but the stupidly high cost is just baffling for the results you get.

and before anyone says "it does less damage" only 2 things in the game does that matter to, a ptera and an argent. every other dino can soak the damage all the way to KO and beyond, and stills tart its tame at 99.9% efficiency.
