Yes, there is a point, a massive point actually.
Every other tranq method requires you to aim carefully and lead your shots in PvP. Having a near infinite range tranq method that only requires you to*put dot over target then press leftclick* to KO someone is overpowered.
Because getting KO'ed doesnt give the entire tribe a warning, getting killed does. And getting KO'ed from 200m away without being able to do something about it would only serve to make it a griefers dream weapon.
Without the scope, in order to have some accuracy you have to get closer, putting the shooter in more danger.
