First of all: Awesome calc app, the best i´ve tried so far! Great work!
Also looking forward to the upcoming taming timer feature, i would love to have the function to enter current torpor click on timer and get an alarm/notification if torpor reaches a previously set value, let´s say 5min till wake up.
But there´s one thing i´m missing in every taming app, and that´s the narcotics buffer.
Explanation: "The narco buffer is the time it would take for the application of the narcotic effect to being the creature from zero to full torpo. As torpor decrease is paused during this effect, this functions as extra buffer time."
You can see/calc it with this taming calculator:
http://ark.crumplecorn.com/taming/
So let´s say you´re taming a Lv120 Rex, you´ve got a torpor buffer for about 1.5 hours. But if you wait till torpor is really very low, and then give it the full amount of narcotics for full torpor (about 315) it will take about 40mins till these 315 completly kick in before torpor starts to drop again so you´ve got an effective time buffer for over 2 hours instead of 1.5.
This can be pretty usefull for tames where the torpor drops pretty fast, for example for a Lv120 Spino your calc gives a torpor buffer for about 16min, while the "effective" time buffer (narco+torpor) is about 40 min!
I always wanted this feature in an calc app and don´t have to use the web browser for the crumplecorn calc, so maybe you can give this a shot ;-)
Edit: Using Galaxy Note 3, Android 4.4.2
I've been updating the app almost as soon as the data becomes available on the Ark Dev Kit -- the updates are done remotely and don't need to be sent through the App Store, so I can add them at any time. :)
Using a Galaxy Note 4. Android 5.1.1
So glad to hear that! Thank you!! :)
Devices:
Samsung Note 3, Andriod v5.0
Asus Nexus 7, 2012 model. Andriod V5.0.2
Both devices allows for the hardware back button to be used to exit program.
Looking forward to seeing what the next update includes!
wanted to make a suggestion:
Add the hunger timer till Dino fully starves for each lvl. Many people still like to starve tame and this would set your calculator apart even more from the web based competition!
Would be super helpful to know how long I have to gather prime or cook up my kibble.
Thanks for the great work man!
Thanks for the info! I don't actually have an Android to test the app on (though I just ordered one yesterday), so I'm not that familiar with the OS. In most apps, doesn't the hardware button usually go back a screen within the app? Like if you're on the "settings" page of Dododex, the back button should go to the main Dododex screen, right? Sorry, bit of a newbie here. LOL.
Wow, thanks so much! Really appreciate the promotion! :) I always wondered why people asked about taming in global chat rather than just using a calculator. :P
Thanks for the suggestions about starve taming -- that's been a common request so it'll definitely make it into an upcoming version. :)
Kudo's to you for doing this so fast for us android nerds =)
Yes, the hardware button goes back a screen. I just went to test it to see if the back button would work on settings page, but now I'm stuck on a screen that shows:
Sorry, there was an issue loading the Dododex creature data. Please check your network connection or try again in a few moments.
Then a line down "Retry"
Pressing retry does not work.
Immediately after I was able to browse websites and download from Google Play. I'll check again to see if I am able to use the back button while in settings screen.
Haha, yeah. I had a lot of trouble hooking it up to navigate to the previous screen, so I'll probably just save that for a future version of the app -- I don't think it's a huge deal since there's already a back button within Dododex.
Regarding the "retry" button issue -- that happens when you don't have an internet connect, or if there was an error loading the data from the server. A few people ran into this issue, and it seems to happen more on Android, but I can't figure out what the actual problem is. Maybe I'll add a true error message there so we know what the error actually is. If it happens again, let me know. :)
The language I created the app in is cross-platform, but unfortunately only supports iOS and Android right now. If they extend support to Windows, I'll definitely considering porting it over! :)
