Exactly my thought. However the polymer really isn't to bad these days with the ability to harvest Kairuku with clubs for organic polymer (granted the snow biome presents it's own challenges).
I never really thought about the durability. I would think that metal flak armour would be more durable than plastic riot gear but I'm no armor expert haha. Was just kinda surprised since the patch highlights kinda made it seem like it was on it's own level as far as in game armor was concered.
I look forward to testing it today once some of my other server members are able to get on.
I mean really, what should be the greater advancement: going from cloth armor to metal or from metal to riot? One is a revolution while the other is just an improvement.
I can understand that point of view... However those are some extremely expensive improvements. If it continued that way for the rest of the game a large portion of players would just opt to never craft the higher teirs, thus why have them in game. It's a fineline for the devs to walk as we all know the player base can be, heated, about topics such as this.
IMO, I think that flak now being in the smithy is a sign that more armor will be coming past RIOT.
So the Riot armour is useless (to me) from the moment it was released (or am I missing something major here?)
anyways at the very least it looks amazing and the torpor reducing effect is also pretty cool :)
Blueprints for flak are better than the base engrams which is what we're talking about. The engrams for RIOT are only 15 higher than the engrams for Flak. Once they update the master item id tables the loot drops will have blueprints for RIOT gear as well which will be better than the flak blueprint.
The torpor effect seems to be pretty worth it though with the minimal testing I've done.
As you mention, the base engram of Riot is only 15 points higher on the pieces then flak, this was kind of a disapointment to me.
Maybe it's worth getting the Riot gear when there are blueprints available with better stats then the default.
