ARK: How to knock out a Gallimimus

I recently tried to knock out a Gallimimus to tame it and my partner and I loaded it up with about 40 tranqs and it died, instead of becoming unconscious... Is this a bug or is it what I think it is, you need the electric shock prod?

you should try tranq darts. I managed to knock one out.

Its health is low compared to its torpor. Use tranq darts with longneck. The electric prod might also work, i don't know how much damage it doest compared to the torpor.

Is it even possible with tranc arrows? I won't be able to make darts for another 10 levels.

You could try body shots, with a primitive bow.

I figured it should be possible considering those who play on primitive servers have no access to guns.

I got it stuck and shot it with ARROWS: (body shots) It was low health so i let it heal a bit. Almost all healed (1 minute later), i shoot it with a couple more and it's down. WARNING: Make sure you have 100+ narocotics.

I just tamed 1, I learned that u need to space out shots by 8 seconds. I used up 300 narcotics on a level 12

would using a speed and damage trained pachy work for the galli? i was able to KO both my elk with two hits using my pachy

The longneck reloads in almost 5seconds, but I find it still shoots faster than delivers the torpor. The important thing is to hit the creature with constant tranq darts or else the torpor will be regening quicker than the hp which is why it would die before being KO.

Stunguns are useless for taming. They are effectively one use items (fabricator recharge) so they deliver 400torpor instantly and I think deal zero damage (wiki says 1hp dmg and 266 torpor). When I tested it was 400torpor however it reduced very quickly.

So you would need to make a lot of stun gun and perhaps have multiple people jabbing it to succeed in knocking it out. I'm sure eventually they'll make it so you MUST use stungun on some dinos just to troll us.

putting one down is easy, KEEPing it down while you tame it, that's hard, the poor thing sucks down narcotics like a crack baby.

We were shooting a level 12 with a bow, using body shots and watching with a magnifying glass. It's health dropped by 20 each time and that took about 20 seconds to regenerate. It's torpor seemed to be regenerating faster than it's health though, so we could never tame it. We will try with a rifle.

The Gallimimus... What you need to do, get a bird that can pick it up and drop it in a taming pen. This makes it so it can not run away or get heavily targeted by other agressive dinos. The best method would be to use Eletric Prods but can be expensive to make so use a Longneck with Tranq Darts if you can't make this either use a crossbow this will take about five seconds to reload which is about the approximate time till you can fire another shot. The Crossbow deals a bit of instant torpor damge. This is why you wait 5-10 seconds before firing a shot again, so the torpor can build up. Also make sure the dinosaur is flinching when you shoot it or hit it because this tells you your hitting the dino and giving it damage/torpor. If it is not flinching it means you are only dealing damage to it not torpor. This is because the AI on dinos usually don't count headshots as they can only usually only count body shots. Once it is knocked out best way to tame is to use secondary food unless 100+. Make sure there is someone watching the Gallimimus at all times as there torpor goes down rapidly.
