Missing dinosaurs upon login?
Has anyone else had this issue over the past few weeks? So far we've lost 4 Quetz, 4 Doedicurus and 3 Phiomia. All of these seem to have just despawned for some reason. Their inventory bags are on the floor with the full timer and we get no death messages upon login telling us that some of our dinos have died.

To clarify, we log off and everything is fine, when we log back in things are just missing and their inventory is on the floor with the full timer indicating that it JUST happened. No death messages upon login. Anyone? Ugh.

Update #2 OP here. Tamed a new Quetz and put a tracker on it. Logged in less than 24 hours later and the Quetz is gone. The tribe log shows nothing and when I try to use the tracker, i get no hits. It literally just disappeared. We've also lost a plesiosaur over the last few days as well as 2 carnos.

May sound funny, but try storing some at an exterior location. Just to rule out some kind of terrain glitch tied to your location.

Can't say I have, but people on the server I play on (unofficial PvE) keep mentioning it happening to them with a sort-of-frightening frequency.

The dinosaur pen actually is in an exterior location. I've made a few screenshots that I took from before things started disappearing view-able to the public if anyone wants to see them.

If your servers stay on after you log off, then all kinds of things go on while yo uare away. Its amazing how much chaos a dragonfly will cause in your base, makes everything not on passive go nuts, I find my flying dinos in the sky somewhere, and have had many land based dinos just run off chasing stuff they can't reach.

Another random thought, what is the Tamed Dino Limit on your servers? Could you potentially seeing this disappear as a result of reaching max limit?
Kryptik Feb 5, 2016 @ 7:06pm
@superDave I've not set a limit nor have i seen a way to set it. From what I can gather the limit is something like 120 dinos per tribe as a default and once you reach the limit you apparently get a message indicating that once you try to tame another dinosaur. I've also been able to tame other things and have them not disappear after I've tamed the dinosaurs that have disappeared.

This is the glitch that caused my friends and I to leave Ark for a few months before. We came back and had no problems for a few weeks and now the "abductions" have begun again. 4 Dire wolves 2 Philoma a Quetz and a few other random losses. Be nice to hear from the dev's on this issue as it's quite frustrating. I don't mind a loss to actual game play but a glitch that kills stuff and drops the bags soon as you log in makes it hard to stay motivated to play at all.

[Possible Fix]

If your server has it's dino food consuption settings lowered, you'll run into problems like you're describing. Basically you want that setting to be at 1.0 otherwise it unsyncs. It changes the setting visually, you won't appear to have a starving dino, and it won't even eat because as far as the dino is concerned it's full, as per the settings, but somewhere in the background the food is draining at the normal rate, and won't trigger your dino to eat, just to take the passive damage from starvation.

I changed that on my server and haven't had a single missing dino since. Some people claim this doesn't help, others say it does. I personally have seen it work, as we were losing at least a dino or two a day prior to changing the settings.

Also as far as legitimately lost dinos, on the Workshop 'Joans Pet Finder' is a great mod.

has your server got the DinoCharacterFoodDrainMultiplier at someting other than 1?
That's been a culprit on some other servers

Dino's starving "in the background" don't show up in any logs?

apparently it has been happening on many servers that made that adjustment. they just quietly vanish

we lost 2 dino's today. A mammoth and a icky. We have been on in the last 24hrs and they didn't stave. No death message in the log just vanished! The devs need to take notice and fix this bug! We spent hours taming dino's to have them bug out like this... BTW private server running the latest patch.

@Never Interesting. We have lowered it. I'll give that a shot, go tame a bunch of things (mainly whats been disappearing) and report back in a few days.
