Steam not launching ARK, anyone else having this problem?

I've played ARK for ~90 hours, this morning I attempted to start the game as usual via steam. I select play, then my usual launch options (Extremely low memory), but then nothing else happens. The words "running" and "syncing" do briefly appear beside the games name in my games list. I've not had this problem before.

System:
GT 430
i3-2120 3.30 GHz CPU
4.00 GB RAM
Windows 7 Home x64 bit

Solutions tried:
Restarted computer
Updated Windows
Nvidia already up to date
Tried to launch "ShooterGame.exe", but received error message
Verifying integrity of game cache, although it said 3 files would be reacquired, no effect.

Update: selecting other launch options appears to have no effect either

I tried steps 3 and 4, 'Download and install Visual C++ 2013',
'Download and install DirectX web installer' and then restarted PC. Got a notification that Steam needed to download some files, after that I was able to restart ARK

Your computer is not powerful enough to run Ark. There is nothing that can be done.

Most notable is your ram. You do not have enough system ram to even start the game in the first place, on any setting. That is the reason you are getting that error.

If you have not already done so, then seek a steam refund.

Bottom line: You can not play ark.

Yet I have been playing Ark, for ~90 hours. I do not think my issue is with the game, as the game is not starting, the launching card does not even appear. I think the issue is with launching from Steam.

Have u tried full uninstall and reinstall? Should only take about an hour on decent internet

Good idea, I'll try that next. I'm currently trying 'verifying integrity of game cache'.

Ya man deeply uninstall that bad boy and see how it goes - and as off now submit this as a ticket to ark devs via official website ASAP - they helped me out within 24 hours when my $hit hit the fan

I've had the same problem and my machine is 8 core / 12gb ram / 750Ti.

2 things work for me: Walk away for 10mins or so. Or, Force quit steambootstrapper and try again.

No, I can't think what brought this sudden problem on. I hadn't played any games for a couple of days (work) and then attempted to start up this morning. I'm not aware of there being any big updates on my PC. When I checked windows update, I did have a few outstanding ones, but that didn't seem to solve the problem.

Make sur eyou have the latest windows service pack and re-install the VC Redistributable package from the common redist directory that comes with the game.

Let me know if that fixes it

I can't understand in my mind... Why are you even bothering to try to play ark on that slow potato of a video card? -WHY-? You have to have the graphics on lowest possible settings and it looks like worse than 2000 era computer graphics.

It's supposed to be a beautiful AAA DirectX-11 game, and instead you're turning it down to look like.. literally garbage.

It's not even worth bothering if it has to look that bad.. it makes no sense.

not to mention the low amount of RAM... these days you need atleast the double amount for a computer to run stuff nicely....

well the game runs for him. obviously he doesn't care if it looks like crap because he has fun playing it. as you can see in the first post, he solved the problem

One of the most inconsiderate and negative posts I have ever seen on these forums directed at a persons experience. And i make it a point to never negatively criticize, but clearly you lack a deeper understanding of people, and what it means to be happy.


It is a shame that you must ask "Why", and that something so simple "makes no sense". to you.
