Question for server admins: Dino Spawning Radius
Hello!

My players have been asking me to increase the radius that dinos will spawn from foundations. I've been through the game.ini and GameUserSettings.ini and haven't been able to quite lock down where this would be set.

I've also reviewed http://ark.gamepedia.com/Server_Configuration and have missed this as well.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. One group has made a large structure, with reasonably close walls(which dont block spoawns on my server, they're ":behemoth walls" which arent native to the default game) and dinos are still spawning in pretty close to the foundations, I'd say withing 6 foundations away.

Thanks,

Rob

game.ini
ResourceNoReplenishRadiusStructures=1 (for around structures)
ResourceNoReplenishRadiusPlayers=1 (for around players)
I think thats what you are looking for

btw this will increase(+)/decrease(-) all respawn so also plants and rocks and stuff..

there are a few items which do not ¿affect/effect? dino spawns near player based structures. unfortunately, behemoth gates do not block spawns, pillars also do not block spawns.

Thank you for the suggestions. I had tried altering ResourceNoReplenishRadiusStructures, but I'll try tweaking this again.

What value were you using? "Values higher than 1 will increase the distance... Values between 0 and 1 will reduce it." Not sure how high it can go, though... would be interested to know that.

I had it set to .75 initially. After they reported the issue, I changed it to 1 and did a restart. However, they continue to have issues.

1 is the default... Maybe 1.25 or 1.5 will do it? Or they could all just set up plant species x turrents...

The players on my sever have learned that Plant Species X are the best line of defense against wilds. If you increase it to far the spawn ratios will get messed up and then they will complain that not enough of this is spawning because a structure somewhere has narrowed the spawning volume of a certain Dino. My tribe has built a base around an alpha spawn to deliberatly capture alphas to kill in order to lvl Farming animals. Suggest to your players to think outside of the box and figure out a way to survive the current conditions. All of my radias settings are between 0.4 and 0.3. Meaning when you are sitting there waiting for a tame to wake up an rex or pack of raptors can literally spawn right next to you. I think it adds a bit more excitment to the game that's just me though.

That is a very creative solution! I'm going to advise that they set up plant species x turrets. Maybe I'll experiment with your idea about farming alphas, that would be pretty sweet.

Yeah, I'll just keep the default of 1.0.

Thank you, again, everyone for your suggestions.
