Getting Stoned : )
stone... The one resource that most players in arc approach in unique ways to gather massive amounts. What are some of your favorite techniques for gathering larger amounts? I'll share one of ours :)

Raft Expeditions
Ment for mid game players needing large amounts of stone / CP but without and Platform saddles that would make this null

2+ tribe members recommended
3+ Dino's recommend

1. Build raft with foundations & (at least) 4 large storage bins & 2 mortar & pestles

2. Load up on chitin / K in the Mortar in Pestles so as u gather stone u can immediately begin converting into CP

3. Load either 2 dodecs or 1 dodec & 1 anky depending on goal onto the boat

4. U and tribe member sail along the coast stopping as u hit rock spawns - gather - dump into either storage chests for keeping stone or into M&P for immediate CP conversion

5.*insurance tip* Seeing that ark is a dangerous and unexpected world it is recommended to have a third tribe member flying over you with an Argy to kill and threats & in charge of cooking up the meat he collects to keep food reserves on high

His job also includes inventory management and transportation - i.e. Fly to the dodec and anky as they are gathering - transfer stone to bird - transfer stone to raft

After about 30 min - an hour you should have well over 10K stone

Another last option for longer expeditions would be to have a quez flying full weight loads from boat to base

Sail back home

??????????

Profit!

Do you gather with the anky and doed on the raft or do u have to leave the raft to gather and get back on it?
Brother Booker Jan 21, 2016 @ 8:19am
Both - but at the moment it can get semi glitchy for driving around as the Dino's may glitch into the ocean while swinging - in general it's more efficient to just drive along - park and gather and then return to the ship, drop, continue on - again if u have a third member on an argy transporting between Dino's and ship even faster.

This being said

Zuljin from pooping evolved server has had luck with a small raft + dodec going through small rivers - swinging while driving collecting from the small round rocks

But for our tribe we enjoy the hour journey along the coast ;) good luck brother

Each large storage container holds 45 items = 4500 stone / 4 containers = 18K stone - even getting on / off raft only takes about 30 mins - an hour at max

I mount my goron (doedicurus), whistle my mammoth and my cliff racer (argentavis) flock to follow, then go to town on the rocks around the ice sheets where I live on the tundra.

@wolf awesome idea - I love traveling with a pack but alone u can run into issues with AI following paths and unless their on passive I've had issues with even neutral settings running after compys - however if ur in a safe area u know well and have scouted out for any crazy threats than more power to you my man! Try doing this along the coast with a boat and storage bins replacing the mammoth and let me know what u think! :) in the meantime I'll try out a mammy / argy on follow run and report back!

Take 13 brontos (all with 1k weight), 1 anky, 1 doed, 1 mammoth, 1 battle bird, 2 quetz into the swamp.
Harvest EVERYTHING (there are tons of small mini rocks in the swamp that still give 20-40 stone each).
???
Profit (when I do this, I usually stay out for 2-3 hours because I convert stone into walls/ceilings).

That caravan is pretty much 100% self sufficient and with that setup you can bring home probably 15k weight worth of stone (if you just focus on that).

NOTE - I do this solo, but with tribe members would be faster.

@Tenoshii much respect to you brother - controlling 19 Dino's at once is an art form and one I am far too nervous to try :P I honestly can't imagine leading 13 Brontos let alone 13 through a swamp without them getting stuck or lost over everything.

if this is resulting in 15K weight of stone and your traveling in a swamp I would Highly suggest crafting a raft - adding 4-8 large storage containers which will hold 18-36K stone and u won't have to worry about the Dino's safety.

But again I love hearing all the different ways people approach this - the biggest tip I got from your post was

craft while you gather

^^^^

This is an often overlooked fact due to the initial added weight from materials needed for the end parts but not what ur gathering, - but will increase your time efficiency x10!!!

End note - the less time u spend traveling back and forth from base = more time gathering - ?????? - profit!

;)

Cheers boys

One of the many benefits of living in the tundra - no bugs and no compies XD Smallest problem creatures you run into are wolves and cats, but most of the birds are level 100+ and tear pretty much anything to pieces. Only real problem is having them fly ahead and stop the mount, but having one bird following the mammoth and the others following that bird tends to fix it.

Not too sure when I will start engaging with water content, but that'll likely be when I start working along the coast again. Got tired of compy packs/insects spawning every time I killed something or flew out to scout >.>

Right on brother! My tribe has yet to tame any Brontos , our Quez does most of the heavy lifting but this sounds temping. I may have to report back after we get a few.

Just had an idea off this as well, now we have no underwater tames so not sure on this but Anyone know what a lvl 100+ sharks weight is about? Would be interesting to have an under water drop point to hide from PVP players while ur out on ur dodec

I usually fly my Quetz taking a Doed and harvest the rocks there in safety.

I think i will try the raft idea sounds fun
