Unglitch your dino's
Recently I've had some carno's and rex' glitch through ceilings with pillars under it. I managed to save 1 rex but lost a Behemoth gate doing it. I still have my highest lvl's stuck in the main base and I rather not destroy that. (It's huge). Is there any trick that can get them free/unglitched? The ground below is too close so I can't get them out from under it without destroying walls.

Any help would be welcome. Or if you know about the devs maybe doing something about this. Am I ever getting my animals back or are they lost forever?

I would not recommend putting any animals on ceilings at all. It happens with every type of dino, same with humans at times, so be very very careful. This has been an issue for a very long time now. I believe since day one, but I'm not exactly sure. Has to do with the way the game prioritizes what loads first.

If you're playing singleplayer, or a private game, enable cheats through the console, mount your dino, and when you're sitting in the saddle, use the command "ghost". This will let you noclip your dino out into the open again. When you're free of any obstruction, use the command "walk" to turn the noclip off again.

Yeah, sadly, I didn't know. So you don't know a way to get them free?

Thanks, it's a private server and the admins were so friendly to tell me I had to go tame new animals so that's great.

Dinos only glitch through walls/ceilings when no players are in the area. If you put the stuck dino/s on follow onto another dino that's on the other side of the structure then leave the area or log off it should free itself intime.

Don't know if this will work 100% but I've been able to use this method without fail on a few occasions where my dinos have fallen under my floors.

why not simply demolish the structure trapping it? just demolish the affected areas of where they are stuck then rebuild.

Thanks I will try this. I only tried putting them on follow with myself and then I left the area, but no luck.

We had 1 stuck in another structure and removed some ceilings. We removed 1 cieling in between the behemoth gate and for some stupid reason the game decided the gate had no support anymore and destroyed it. The other dino's that are stuck are in the main base which means half the base would collapse.

Its not going to be easy..
The dino is hopefully standing on de ground beneath the ceiling if the distance isnt too much. Then you'll simply have to get on the ground too, you'll get the E option to sit on it and then its a case of knowing where to get out. Either via an opening or a foundation.
If the distance is too much there is a 50/50 chance, its floating and removing just the ceilings its on and replacing it with 1 to 2 ramp should do the trick to get you at its feet and walk up the ramp.
Good luck, i know your pain and therefor switched to dinos on foundation or ground only. Especially Rex and Spino.

I tried the following trick and got my rex' out and 1 carno. So I only have 1 carno still stuck. I put the animal they try to follow in different spots untill it gets out. Works great. Really happy about it :D

My carno is stuck in a foundation (and possibly an aircon unit above it) and I can't mount it (only get the 'Harvest Settings' option) so cannot use the ghost command. Using ghost on myself doesn't help either to get to a point where I can mount it. It won't follow either.

years later, and this bug is STILL in game
yeay early access title!

your best bet is:
- to either destroy everything close
- use a whip on it so it moves
- set it on follow and leave render distance
- try to pick it up with a quetzal
- tame a new one, it's faster then contzcting support

lol

heh prob quicker to kill it :) Its only my SP server though. Will try whipping it :)

Got her out at last - a bit of punching, going out of render distance and a couple of reloads was finally able to mount and ghost out.

sweet

i never put dinos on floors/ceilings
what i do is i make a giant square of foundations, and leave the entire middle open
xxxxxxxxx
x
x
x
x
xxxxxxxxx

something like this

on the x i put walls on both side of the foundation so i have doubvle layer wall for protection, on the open side is my actual base
the dinos stand in the open ground so they can't glicth, while still being protected by double walls on 3 sides, and my actual base in their back
