Which is better? Or are they the same?

wolf, i always use wolf to get chittin, so i think they are also best in caves. never been inside cave before, but outside i always use wolf.

Saber. The saddle adds addition protections so there isn't as much down time to heal up between waves of enemies. This is more important after the latest dino nerf.

Saber!

Wolf got more damage, saber got armor. Depends on what you prefer.
Someone said somewhere that the wolf can fit a few places where saber can not, can not confirm or deny this though.
After experimenting with both, i prefer saber.

either or, personally direwolf my first choice.

Easy chitin farming with dire killing scorpions. No caves necessary

For cave at vulcano i preferred wolf before the nerf. There are some parts in the cave where you have to turn "left, right, left, right" etc. to fit through with a saber, while with the wolf you can just normally walk there. Also the wolf has a higher base damage resulting in more chitin.
Now with the nerf the saber has the benefit of having higher armor. With the wolf you will need to rest between bigger groups and heal up with force feeding meat. But in the end both options work.

I get a lot of chitin from my frog when cement farming in the swamp. More than I ever do from my Sabretooth. But I've not tried caves.

Wolf yields more chitin because it has more damage but no saddle makes it riskier especially if you encounter an other player on a saber that will probably eat your wolf alive if he has a good saddle. I haven't tried since the nerf but before nerf wolf was simply better because a good wolf would not lose any significant amount of health anyway and the wolf has a better AOE in its attack that makes killing bats much easier.

I'd say with the basic primitive saddle it's more of a preference thing. But if you find a saber saddle that has more armour, the damage reduction really starts to pull the saber ahead.

my own experience is that the saber can carry more weight and that it's faster. (spamming jump.) I've tested this with a friend and the wolf was quite a bit slower over flat long distances. Saber have armor, but wolfs have more health. Wolfs do more damage, although in my opinion this is only really important against stronger dino's.

Getting cementing paste with the frog is a nightmare!

Cave spawns are messed up for me, just bats and nothing else, weird.

Really? That's my favorite resources to gather. Drop a titanboa or some other medium sized critter and leave the corpse in the swamp. Wait till the bugs arrive and you'll get a good 50 cementing paste (rates may differ based on servers.)

If you can afford a loss, I'd recommend wolf. If not, saber. Sabers got a higher base weight, but I never felt encumbered after a cave run.
Especially after the nerf, I never go caving without a dmg-bred Dimo on my shoulder. Makes a difference.

What?? Hundreds of ready cement paste in a few hours and additional hundreds of chitin, what are you talking about?
