How does dung beetle work?
So I've been kinda taking a break from Ark, but I still keep up with it. But there's one thing I'm kinda confused about the dung beetle. In the spotlight, it didn't seem to pick up the poop. It just kinda walked around it. Does it not automatically pick up the poop, or do you put it in its inventory and it works like a compost bin?

you have to put feces in their inventory , they not automatically pick up the poop which useless just like oviraptor
Hahaha, really? I once made a joke that the devs would do that. I guess I'm sticking with "GiveItemNum 50 50 1 0" then. It might not be so bad, if they'd let us adjust the fertilizer consumption rate.
The dung beetle is a fantastic tame that pretty much makes compost bins completely obselete.
It doesn't automatically pick up poop? ...really? Doesn't the dossier mention it doing exactly that?
Almost all the dossiers are inaccurate when it comes to game mechanics, don't rely on those. They're there for lore only imo.

And dung beetle is pretty cool, makes fertilizer/oil fairly quickly. Well worth it.

Exactly just business as usual...
This unique creatures not automatically gathering what they are supposed to business is really getting disappointing.
most dinos just arent worth having around because they dont help, if you got to manually load it like a compost bin anyway why bother at all, thats how i look at them and the oil is literallyeverywhere on the map.

I want the dinos to have a use, a point to them, as things stand you just pretty much need a set amount of dinos the ones that fight well and thats it...

And the dossier doesn't say it collects poop btw, it says it eats it.

People are jumping to conclusions again about game mechanics that were never confirmed. Just like with the Ovi
im not jumping to anything, im making a point that if you have to manually load it up, its no more useful than a compost bin. why cant the dinos have automation to them ?

I never had an issue with the time it took to make. I had an issue with the time it took to collect the dung. Even collecting stimberries and hitting "remote use" a million times wasn't worth it.

Also, collecting dung is what dung beetles do. Dossier or not, it's their thing, more so than any other dino's thing is its thing. The devs just haven't gotten anything right in months.
you still need thatch? How many Poop per fert its consumes? How long does it take? How big is its inventory to do so? (bin max. 6 poop a time though)
its just a glorified compost bin, there was nothing wrong with the original concept or workings of the compost bin, without the automation process on the beetle its content for the sake of content and nothing more...

How many times are the devs simply going to adjust a already placed mechanic and polish it again ?

It turns 1 Large poop into 3 bags of fertilizer in less than like 10 mins. It's a godsend to farmers. I don't see why everyone is whining
1 dung beetle, weight 14, filled exclusively with small poops, that's about 45 poops, and therefore 45 fertalizer, and 90 oil, in less than an hour.

Yeah, utterly useless...
