I read somewere the devs plan to counter gig with a herbavoire.. is this true? If this is the case then i believe the subject title would be The choice. are there other possibilities that are not sauropods?

i know the tech tier allows the players to better handle the gig. but i read somewere that there will be a dino counter. not a boss or another gig. specificaly a hebavoire.

To be honest, i can't really think of any non-sauropod land herbivores that could be bumped up to match ARK's Giga (as much as i'd like to see one), but i'd say the closest sauropod match size-wise could be Dreadnoughtus. But i hope i'm proven wrong and some other interesting titan of a creature will pop up.

Please no, pleaaaseee no.

Can we stop one-upping everything in size? This is beginning to feel like less like a dinosaur game, and more like a mix between Godzilla and a Michael Bay movie.. Christ..

I do agree, but i still feel like the Giga needs some sort of herbivorous counter.

The gigas that existed weren't that big like in ARK anyway, they're way too big. It was only slightly larger than a T-rex.
I know, that's why i said "ARK's Giga" not "the Giga."

The issue with trying to figure this out is the fact that the devs could really pick any creature and up or downsize it as they please.

u know, i was thinking, y not make the giga only target large dinos, like brontos, paras, and mammoths, the thing is massive, i doubt it would waste its time on a human, like chasing a fly for food, not sure if that would help, but would make it alot less dangerous to new players, not saying that it will just let u hit it, but i mean, not as soon as it sees u it charges. idk, random idea

Pretty much nothing in Ark is the right size. Even the T-rex is so big that it could most probably never have existed, due to the square-cube law. The Giga is something else entirely..

Thing is, it's fine, they made some design choices, and that's their prerogative. I just think it's a very lazy design choice, sort of like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Transformers movie, where every movie has to have bigger transformers, just to outdo the previous one.

Reminds me of a quote. . .

"Nothing in ARK Survival Evolved is natural, we have always filled gaps in the genome with the DNA of other animals. And if the genetic code was pure, many of them would look quite different. But you didn't ask for reality, you asked for more teeth!"
Good thing code can't form real dinosaurs and break out of the game, we've certainly got a lot of people asking for more teeth.

I will say though, i do like a lot of the devs decisions regarding the changes in their creatures, adding a frill to the boa, making the Spino quadrapedal, (Debatably accurate to real Spinos) Liopluerodon's oil secretion etc. some of the choices they've made are bloody schmick!

The Giant Titanosaurus, a sauropod, would be a potent counter to Giga coming in at 130 feet long.
