Babies Changing Colors
Hi all! So, I've noticed this a few times. When I breed my dinos, the babies are simply gorgeous - differently colored than their parents.... client-side.

I run my own server, and on my side, the babies arew different colors. however, for the other palyer, the babies are always either the color of the mother or the father. After a reboot, the colors show up the same for me - the babies now look like either the mother or the father, absolutely no differences.

Is this a bug, or what?

Honestly it sounds like a bug or glitch. Haven't had that happen, but we've been breeding doeds and the colors so far have always come from the parents, with all of us seeing the same colors when born, hatched, etc.

So, your babies are always the color of either parents? Never new colors or combos?

My rex is fully green. It used to be blackish torso with blue back scales when it was a baby.

That was sad, but it happens once in a while.

Same, this happened in sp for me. Got a beautiful silver giganto baby, named it snow... logged back on, pure black.

Yea, as far as I know the creatures always change color when going trough the baby>juvenile>adolescant stage.
I was so happy when the pink stripe dissapeared from my Dilo's and turned white...

Here's how it works. The color scheme on new babies hatched/born is always random. Someone said over these forums awhile back that they get a combo of parents colors and that's just not true. They just get a random roll on the colors and they don't change through its grow up stages either. None of this matters though because as soon as your server restarts for say an update, the colors of bred dinos revert back to a carbon copy of one of the parents.

So you effectively can't breed for color outside of a total color combination of one parent and its a diceroll everytime whether you will get mom's or dad's color scheme that will always reveal itself after a server restart.

In single player you can use console commands to effectively change the colors back to whatever they random rolled in the first place and those colors will be the new placeholders for the offspring's colors. Be warned though, there are some natural dino specific colors, the base brown on akylo's backs for example. If you change those colors you can never go back to the natural stock colors on that dino or its offspring, or at least not that I know of.
So basically, it is a bug. We're supposed to be able to breed for color, and this happens to me on my server (that I host) as well as on SP.
