Why did the devs give the quetzalcoatlas feathers but not the raptors?
In the real world (as most probably know) all raptors were covered head to toe in feathers whereas pteranodons (quetzals) were completley featherless and had leathery skin. The devs claimed that it was to hard to add feathers but now with the fur pass they have no excuse for not giving the raptors feathers.

Because it's their game?

None of the dino are supposed to be 100% historically accurate. The Microraptor is closer in size and look to the real raptors, and that will have feathers:P

They do, just not that many. plus these are geneticaly modified freaks for an alien version of an japanese game show.
artistic license seems like a pretty valid excuse to me

Some pterosaurs did have a fur-like coating, perhaps that is what they are going for?

Yeah... all pterasaurs had feather/hair like picnofibers covering their body. Still the raptors should have it too. My only thought is mabye we are goin to get some snowy therapods such as yutyrannus or siats. These would go in the snow and have feathers to better set them apart from the other dinos

You should accept that this island called " Ark" may be a project based on a child fantasy . Perhaps a rich dude who lost his only child and now want to revive him using clone , but experiment went haywire and now we got this .

And yes i got this idea from a manga called '' Cage of Eden '' which also about surviving on an island full of prehistory beast .

So , not everything is based on real dino , that is the fact and thanked to it dev will not be restricted about what kind of dino they will make and what they can do .

The new megalosaurus seems to have feathers.

Maybe because all the pictures of the Utah raptor (the genus in game) don show them covered in feathers? And that no feathers or bones found have had the little holes that some birds have for feathers. Even though not all species have these holes. There is no proff they did or didn't have them.

And guess what it's a game. It doesn't have to be one way or the other.

This is hands down the best abstract description of ARK I've heard. Bravo! I will be using this language from here on out to answer these questions.

I'm shure... one day... someone will make a mod called "Fluffy Dinos" and every dino in game will be fluffy, hell even rocks and trees will be fluffy. We will have fluffy fished!
