Having Issue with Large Crop Plots
I built a raft. I built a boat like structure upon it. Now I want to place Large Crop Plots on it. Most of the locations I want to put these plots on when I hover the crop plot over it is is green showing it is ready to be placed. I click, it makes the sound as if it was placed correctly, then it just doesn't appear. I 'have' been able to place large crops on some tiles of my boat. Some on wooden roof tiles, some on wooden foundations/floors.

I am frustrated because I don't seem to see a pattern as to why some locations are successful in placing and others are not when they all meet the requirements that I am aware of.

Please help if any vets are out there as I am a novice ship builder but love the concept!

bump any help? I tried logging in and out as well as getting closer to the placement spot.

Not sure f this will help but try pulling the raft into the ocean a little deeper. I sometimes have trouble placing floor and ceiling tiles due to the raft thinking it is on land if it is too close to shore. I end up having to pull out into deeper waters so what I try placing is not snapping to the ground instead of to the raft. Not sure if that is the same phenomena you are experiencing, but it might be worth try to see if it helps.

Thanks for the reply but to no avail. I moved the boat out to the deepest water I could find and still can't apply the plots to certain spots.

I have had a break through... I think I know why the large crops plot has an issue. The plot sits on a wooden roof. For some reason it checks to see what is on the floor below it. For some reason, a bug?, the game wants an unobstructed floor/foundation tile one store under the floor where you are placing a plot. (only seen on boats i think)

I have been able to place the plots on my boat if I am able to put a roof/foundation tile exactly one story beneath it. This has to be a bug and I have only encountered it when building a boat. The bigger issue is that this is costing far too many structure slots on the raft and is preventing me to finishing the boat as I want it.

When I put the plot down and then go to the floor below and remove the roof/foundation one story below it, the large crop plot disappears as well. Very frustrating.

Here is what I am going to try next: I will put down a plot, plant an xplant on it. Then when fully grown I will go and remove the floor beneath it and see if it destroys the plot and kills the plant as well. My hopes (fleeting as they may be) is that the plant will somehow change the state the crop is in from a code perspective and it wont have this bug where it is looking to the floor below for some reason.

PS is there way I can report this bug?

Thank you for this post. Several months old, but still relevant. Crop plots cannot be placed on wooden ceilings far from foundations, but can be placed on stone and metal ceilings.

I had the same problem, and partially solved by trying wood ceilings directly (2 walls) above wood foundations. Worked in 3/4 cases.
