Need help with Cheat Codes
Hi all,
I am relatively new to ARK and set up a dedicated server at my house so that I can play with just myself and my 8 year old son. While he loves the game, he still gets skittish around the larger dinosaurs. To make things easier, I set him up with god mode. For the past few days, it seemed to be working fine... but then it just seemed to stop working as of last night.

Here's what I do:

Hit Tab to enter the console from my computer
enablecheats 12345 (12345 being the server admin password)
cheat god (to enable god mode)

When it was working, he'd take no damage and neither would his armor. Also, he'd be immune to poisons and whatnot.

Can anyone kindly pass along some advice on the following:
1. Did something above change, or am I completely spacing and doing something wrong?
2. Is there a way to have the game provide a notification/confirmation when a cheat code is used?
3. Is there a recommended site that has all of the latest admin/cheat codes?

Thanks all!

Logging out stops it. Hit tab twice after entering god and make sure it says god enabled

Is what you're looking for. And the God Mode will be disable every time the Server gets restarted.
I assume your Kid plays with your Account/Char? If yes, the way you tried to enable God Mode is correct. Otherwise you have to do the same steps while logged in with his Account/Char.

Thanks all for the replies! My son plays on his own account. All told, ARK (at the moment) is pretty much a supercharged version of Minecraft that I can enjoy along side my son. I just power up a laptop containing the SteamCMD and then we both login to the dedicated server from our PCs.

From there, I set him up with god mode so he can run around and have a fun time while I get to unwind from my day by working on building up a cool little town overlooking a waterfall.

That being said, maybe someone can help with a tamed pet question. What is the best way to keep your animals fed? I have a Trough but I'm worried about its range. I read that the range is about 10 foundations. In that case, I think I'd have to build 5-6 of them to cover the entire town. Will pets set on wander just hang near the trough... or at least know enough to go to it when they're hungry? (currently, I'm playing it safe by having them all set to not wander and placed within range of the Trough). Please note that there's a fence around the entire town so they can't go too far.

My hope is to have a carnivore or two (a croc that is already tamed and a larger fish once I can get the right one to spawn) set on aggressive at my lake (so they can farm any aquatic life that spawns) and then set everything else to wander on neutral. Will Troughs be enough to feed them? Will I have to regularly just have to stock their inventories with food? Or better yet... will the herbivores just feed themselves on the available plants growing randomly in the fields?

Apologies for the noob questions... just trying to get a better handle on learning the game mechanics.
Dinos will get a little trough icon over their head when they are near enough! Dinos on wander .. do .. wander blindlessly around .. sometimes they get near .. sometimes not .. they will not tether to a feeding through at all!!
a few scattered around might be your solution on that mate!

A nice little defense is to have a few carnivore guardians tethered to a passive dino... set the guardians to aggressive and they will kill all wild ones coming in/spawning in .. and then go back the the dino they are tethered to!!!
Note, this seem to break when server restart, and also sometimes after logging ... but as you take your server down when you are not playing, it should mean much!!

It lasts only until you log out, just like the GiveEngrams code. Its only temporary and you will have to re-enter it each time in the console. Don't worry, there is a list of 30 most recently used codes in it which you can just tab through.
If you are looking for an overall index of cheat codes, just google search for it. One exists already, containing most if not all currently available codes here in the steam discussions/forum board. Google search really isn't that scary. You can always use Bing... [must try not to laugh... must ...try not to laugh..]

No they wont hang around near the trough nor are they smart enough to walk back to the trough if hungry. BUT the pets may survive 2 weeks without food and they will eat as much as they can if they eventually get into the radius of a trough, so even on wander they wont starve to death.

But if you have your own Server you might want to consider this mod:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=552761829

wait you shutdown the server if not need?
Then they wont consume any food during the downtime so the may last forever even if not feed ;-)

you can also just create a .txt file that permanently allows your son or any other player you accept to use cheats all the time.
step1: go to \ArkServer\ShooterGame\Saved
step2: create an AllowedCheaterSteamIDs.txt file
step3: insert the Steamid_64 of the person you want to be allowed to cheat there. if you want multiple persons you need to have 1 ID per line.

For example this is my AllowedCheaterSteamIDs.txt with my steamid:

Line1: 76561197995783752
Line2: Any other person you want to be allowed to use cheats

step4: restart the server (i am not even sure if this is needed) and these people can cheat whatever they want.

If you are not sure how to get the steamid_64 of people: https://steamid.io/ you just enter the steamcommunity profile of a person here and it will tell you the steamid.
