Best way to get Plant X seeds

I was hoping you guys could tell me the best way to obtain Plant X seeds.

Randomly from the little red fern type plant on top of some mountains, but also in swamp areas you can find a really big plant which is all xplant seeds

Cattails in the swamp. Use a Trike, Steg, or Bronto. I use Trikes and get plenty of seeds. You can also find some on the plants themselves (they look like immature versions) and harvest by hand.

I have not harvested a single seed from mountain plants since the addition of the Swamp Biome. If you can still get them there, it is very rare.

any of the fern like planets around the swamp areas give a lot of them when using a berry harvesting dino. or there is plant x plants in the swamp in a few spots that give you a lot at once.

I would suggest the plant that specifically drops them in the swamps. They're large and distinguished, they also give the highest yield by hand (I recall around 8 on default gather). Otherwise as someone said you could take certain creatures to the swamp to harvest cattails (which I haven't done, it appears the wiki suggests Ankylosaurus however the wiki has always been debatable on reliability so maybe take one out with a Trike to test it yourself and determine the risk vs reward). Lastly (the original and painful way) you can harvest strange red plants on the top of mountains which rarely drop the seed. Just make sure you can keep them protected in a large crop plot for a few in-game weeks with plenty of fertilizer and water, as well as consider the fact that they are somewhat "fragile".
