can this computer run ark on medium? *done*
I'm going to be upgrading my computer and I just wanted to make sure my choice in graphic card and processor will make ark work on medium with good fps *like 30+ (like i can actually move around without being in a slideshow of polygons) I already upgraded and turns out that wasn't enough so now i needed to upgrade my graphic card and processor.

Graphic card:
One I plan on getting:
GTX960 GDDR5-4GB

Current one:
geforce 8600 GT *I know, it's old q.q

Processor:
Current one:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G4400 @ 3.30GHz (would I need to upgrade this? someone said before it could cause problems for the newer graphic card cause it's weak but is it something that would stop me from playing ark well? or something i can upgrade later?)

the one I plan on getting:
Core i5-6400 (Skylake), up to 3.30 GHz Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache, 4 cores/4 threads, Intel HD Graphics 530, 65W TDP, 14nm Process,

Windows 7 64bit

16gigs of ram

Sorry for asking for help again, I just want to make sure this can run the game, since I'd rather not spend more money then needed.
so if I can just get the graphic card alone and the processor I have would work well enough for now that be even better, but if it's absolutely needed and the game won't run smoothly enough to where I can't even move correctly, then I'll upgrade the processor.

the 920M gets 25-40 on high though :P is it better?
KingKolla Jan 10, 2016 @ 6:06pm
IMHO:
CPU: Intel 4XXX Series: best price but same power, and the MB cost less
Ram 8GB are enough for everything.
GTX960: NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO, wait and buy a gtx970, 960 is a no-sense
Windows 7....Use 10, rly better.

GTX980 is a 4k standard, a good 970 (ASUS, MSI 350€) are perfect for all games!

your current pc wont run anything, as its a single core. ram is ok win 7 is ok cpu and gpu needs to be changed.
KingKolla Jan 10, 2016 @ 6:17pm
Mmmm....If you not buy RAM at 800MHz you will not have problems

no never get a model M, they are for laptops only. TBH you really want a 970 (980 is better) or just wait a little bit longer until AMD and nVidia release the next gen and get a GTX1070 or what ever they call them then.

Budget will not work well for this game. and you CPU will easliy take a titan X pushing max settings at 60FPS all day.

so the cpu/processor I have right now will be able to take one of the higher graphic card like a 970-980? or are you looking at the one I plan on buying cause a lot of these comments seem to be conflicting and just making it more confusing. also what is a SSD? I'm kind of not good with computer parts X.x

Mmmm wait...why you are using a 8600gt on a G4400?

PS SSD IS THE WAY :P

what do you think mate? do I really need to answer that question... I think everyone posting here is going by the assumed new build...

ok so if I go for a 970 with the newer processor it should be fine? again I'm not familar with computer parts. thats why I'm asking here if I didn't need help I wouldn't be asking.

In your situation, now, it's better remove you GPU and use the CPU's...it's better....
For the "new PC" it's better change...all!
You CPU is not bad but have lot of limits, like the ram...

Don't waste your money on a GPU right now. Wait until Q2 or Q3 to buy.

GPU tech is about to take a jump this year, more so then the usual increments. Wouldn't you rather get ~double the performance at the same price?

Also, you'll probably want to update the CPU. Older CPUs don't get the most out of PCI-E bandwidth, which could bottleneck your new GPU. That Skylake i5 will tear it apart though, in a good way.

Also - I get a steady ~55-65 FPS on max settings with my GTX 970. If you can't wait, that's the card to aim for.

a 970 will be fine with the new CPU yes. I have a 970 myself with a i5 3570k and its all goods. But if you havent bought yet I'd suggest you wait for the next gen graphics cards. not anything bar the titan X gives good results for this game and I have little faith in them optamizing it enough for even a $500 AU GTX970 will not get high settings with 60FPS

Well I never really cared about making it look ultra pretty, I just want to be able to play the game without it lagging every 5 seconds and unable to basicly move. I don't even care if I have to play it on low really. as long as the fps are good enough to let me move correctly.

how long do you think it will be before they do that jump? cause if it's a year or close to, I'd rather just get the gtx 970 cause ark is really the only game causing me problems, (althought I did need to upgrade my graphic card anyway, so i was gonna do it regardless of ark.)

The less you spend on your graphics card now, the sooner you'll be upgrading later. Since you're pretty casual when it comes to getting the most out of your games, a decent card should last you at least 4-5 years.
